[1.5_01+] Weather Sound Mod [HQ]

Note: Your Minecraft will automatically redownload the default rain effects unless you use the "Sound Mod Enabler" found on this thread.

Note: Before you complain about the volume being too low, check to make sure your settings are on FANCY. Apparently, video settings change the audio settings regarding weather. If you want to hear the rain properly, you have got to set your settings to fancy!

I was happy when rain and thunderstorms were released. The main reason behind that was simple: I liked the rain. It sounds good, it makes the lighting soft, et cetera. Except the rain in Minecraft wears on you after a while... it sounds like FSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO instead of the gentle sound of rain that I like.

So, I made this mod. I added a "+" after the version information because it doesn't require the replacement of any classes. The only reason that I would have to update this is if more rain/thunder sounds were added, which seems unlikely. You must replace the weather sound effects in this folder:

.minecraft > resources > newsound > ambient > weather

With the ones found in this pack. Then, you'll enjoy high-quality and smooth rainfall for the rest of your Minecraft experience (or, at least, until the Sound Mod Enabler needs to be updated).

Feedback would be appreciated, and any bugs (if there are any) should be reported here.

Rageupdate: BLAR! I botched the compression! The download link has been temporarily removed while I recompress the audio files. I'm pretty sure if I didn't do this, you'd be getting hideous lag. Maybe. I'm still doing it, though.

Update: Recompressed, reuploaded, and hopefully good-to-go. Now I'm serious about reporting bugs.

Update: Re-recompressed, re-reuploaded. I can guarantee absolutely no lag if you're on a good computer. I need some feedback, because I've compressed the hell out of these files while still maintaining good quality. I think it's pretty good at this point.

Update: The volume is higher and I've compressed it yet again with a different method. It should run smoothly and sound excellent.

The sounds you added, in my opinion, sound a lot better, than the default ones, great job!

HMM...!

Reload the page and try again? Have any anti-popup junk or something that could be blocking it?

When I got it and installed it, The rain was extremely quiet (I know its supposed to be not WOOOOOOOSH but I could barely hear it :bookshelf:) So it might sound cool if you go to http://www.rainymood.com and get samples from there and use those instead. They sound AMAZING. Im gonna try it and ill get back to ya :D

EDIT: Actually, Amplification is all that I think it would need. Also, I think it would be cool if there was the lighting and then like 3 seconds after you hear the thunder like in real life...

I love it, the sound effects are a lot nicer, the only problem is, the rain is far too quiet. I had to double my volume to hear it, but then I got deafened by everything else. It sounds like it's just me having this problem though... Any ideas?

EDIT: Nope, it's not just me. I don't want you to use different sound effects though, just wondering if there's any way to change the volume of the current ones.

It might be for you, but I had to increase my volume by half to just barely hear the rain, and double it to actually properly hear it. Unfortunately, this makes everything else in the game deafening. It would appear that it's only some of us getting these issues though...

Uh, great. Could we actually see it?

Moving on; I'll see if I can't increase the volume a bit more then upload a (hopefully) final version in a few hours. I'm going to try re-re-recompressing it, too.

Anything from that rainymood site would be too relatively quietish to come out proper after the compressing and the volume altering. I'll be sticking with what I have, but I'm going to modify the volume and get everything equalized.
