I really need help on this, ive only found 3 diamond, and ive gone through 3 iron picks and half of my only diamond pick looking for more and havnt found any, all i keep finding is redstone, redstone, coal, redstone, and more redstone.
Sorry, but I don't think there are any indicators that point you towards any certain thing like diamonds; not like in real life at least. You just have to dig around and find them. I do know that the further down you dig, the more abundant they are supposed to be. I have trouble finding diamonds and iron =/ I save my diamond for pickaxes to mine obsidian and use iron and or stone for everything else *just a note that I am a new player and haven't built up much in the way of resources!*
I've went through a whole diamond pick without a diamond (very discouraging), but I've also found 20+ on 1 pick.
On average, I seem to find around 10 diamonds per diamond pick. If you haven't found any yet, then keep digging. After about 10 diamond picks, you should have close to a stack saved up (if you aren't wasting diamonds on armor). Just keep at it.

What kind of mining do you do? Where do you mine?
My most successful method is mining at layer 12. Every time I come across a lava lake I use my water bucket to turn it to obsidian and explore that cavern. You find the most diamonds by exploring caves around layer 10.
My method is - stand on level 11, then tunnel thusly:
Then, any time I hit a vein I dig out around it completely - there's a higher liklihood of another vein within 1 block of another. Even if it's redstone and I don't want to actually collect it, it's still good to dig around any deposit you find (at least below level 17, where redstone and diamond live).
Also, I never use iron picks to mine stone. I use stone only - with a single iron pick to dig out diamond/gold. Iron just degrades too quickly and has too many other great uses.
Got a bow? good kill some creepers, get there gunpowder, make TNT and BOOM you will eventually get diamond

This is not a good idea. Mining with TNT ends up destroying blocks but only dropping about 1/2 of their resources. Much like a creeper blast, not everything blown up will drop a resource. So mining for diamonds with TNT you're risking them being blown up completely.
My method is tunneling down to bedrock, then coming up to around 6-8 blocks up and strip mining. Diamonds are (rightly) rare, but you'll find them eventually.

"Bloody explorers, ponce off to Mumbo Jumbo land, come home with a tropical disease, a suntan, and a bag of brown lumpy things."
When you find Redstone ores, dig around it (5-6 layers around it should do). There's a 69-96 percent that you'll find, at least, 2-3 Diamond ores.
And there's about a 99% chance that you'll find another redstone ore years before you find diamond. There's no correlation between redstone and diamonds, the only being that they spawn in the same layers.
The way i did it was on my first day dug straight down (yes i know i did it against advice) and i found diamond there, since then ive set up a furnace and crafting bench at bedrock level and just mine sideways from there.
Also i didnt go to a cave or lava or anything i just started digging, should i make a sword out of this gold ore and armor out of the iron and go explore caves ?
well you could try branch mining it works for me mostly and also there's way too much red stone in between 16-4 and I've done this before and not found diamonds a lot of the time there's not any diamonds

No matter how right you think you are there will always be some one standing by to correct you.
I have found most of my diamonds around the pools of lava deep below the surface. I don't know how many I have found but I have had enough for 2 diamond swords about 4 pick axes, 2 shovels, 2 sets of armor, and I have 20ish in my inventory. I try to ration them though. I have stacks upon stacks of iron so I mainly use it for my tools.
look near lava you might find diamonds near lava.
NOTE: you must have a bucket of water to get rid of lava
also looking for diamonds has a risk of falling near lava.
IMPORTANT: getting diamond requires patience and care to prevent falling into lava.

what the f*** does that graph say? I cant make heads with it!
