I have endeavored to create a texture pack as close to the Sega Genesis game 'Shining Force' as possible within the framework of the Minecraft world.

Textures included for the following mods:

SimpleOres by AleXndrTheGr8st

This is totally awesome~ my friend is gonna flip when he sees this x3.

P.S. when I read "disabled veteran" I instantly pictured you as a grizzled 60-something bearded man in a wheelchair, even though I'm almost certain you're not. hope you don't mind.

*downloads this and tries it out!*

Edit: I've tested it out a teensy bit and I have but one complaint: THe stone looks like cobblestone and that's a bit confusing. other than that I think it's positively awesome! so much nostalgia <3

Thanks for trying out this texture pack, it has been a real joy for me to create it. I hope your friend tries it and likes it too.

I'm not really a grizzled, bearded, 60-ish veteran, not that there is anything wrong with that. I'm only 31. I'm recently honorably discharged from the army because of mental illness. I'm a happily married, physically healthy, artist-type.

As for the stone textures, I have included in the .zip file two alternate folders which have either a single block for the stone texture, or one that is plain grey. I personally enjoy using the plain grey texture, and that is what I started this project out with. But if you have a castle type building and you use the default texture which the .zip file is set to use, I feel that it looks much more like the major castles from the Shining Force games.

Thank you very much for your input though, and for telling your friend about it.

I've noticed a couple of images have some texture off to a side of them. The ones I have noticed are Bones have a black and white bar on one edge, and feathers and arrows have a brown pixel or 2 in a corner. They are easy to notice if you drop a couple of the items in front of you.

Don't know if you noticed yet, but I think they changed the layout of textures, because the sides of my grass are now bleeding obsidian blocks instead of the grass.

Edit: Also your sapling is now a blank file and loads up as a white box. Fairly sure this means they altered the layout of the texture file.

Thanks for pointing that out, I noticed that something was wrong, but I didn't figure out that the blue streaked obsidian was replaced by the biome compliant grass texture.

It should be good to go for Beta 1.5 now.

Nice Piece of work here i haven't gotten enough time today to fully explore the pack but i did notice a few things:
1. The clock seems messed up i'm not sure why but it's perpetually pink where it indicates the time of day(could be a texture issue i dunno).
2. Sand/Sandstone/Dirt are only marginally different in color tone which could cause confusion for some people.

Other than that the pack is incredible and the moon is utterly amazing in the pack and fits wonderfully in the game. Also i love the way you did the cobblestone it makes mining feel like a real challenge.

Thank you very much for downloading and the compliments. I also appreciate that you pointed out issues that you noticed, it's hard for me to try and look at every individual texture in game when I am busy playing, updating my texture packs and working on some new ones.

I looked at the clock in-game but I couldn't see any problem with it like the one that you mentioned, so I'm not sure what the cause would be. Nonetheless, I copy and pasted the dial area from the original minecraft items file just to try and remedy the issue if possible.

I really liked the particular color of the dirt as it was, which was a texture taken straight out of a Shining Force image. However, I have to agree that it was so very close to the sand/sandstone color scheme that it did make it hard to tell them apart, especially in a dark cave. So I changed the dirt to a new, darker color.

I think the dirt looks pretty good now, and also different enough from gravel, sand, and sandstone.

I might be way off on my thinking, but maybe adding a texture to sand would help?
Then you could still have the dirt color, and if the textures are different enough it might make it fairly easy to tell which is which.

I changed the texture for dirt, plowed dirt and hydrated plowed dirt. I also found that somewhere along the way I left out the textures new in Minecraft v1.5, and I put them back in. This should be the last significant change to the terrain file. I'm happy with how this has turned out.

The new dirt in the rain, along with sand, sandstone, and gravel.

Thank you to those who have made recommendations for my development of this pack. Your input is appreciated.

Thank you for all of the praise from those who have downloaded and tried my first texture pack. I've worked on this on and off since April and I am quite happy with the way it has turned out. As always comments and suggestions are welcome. I would especially like to know what anyone who is a fan of Shining Force thinks of the new Creeper.

Yeah, it has that "old-video game feel" to it. The Mario texture packs I've played though tend to have a little bit more shiny look to the blocks. These textures in this pack are vivid and colorful though.
