I am trying to think of all of the different kinds of rooms you could have in your house. So far I have thought of:

Pretty much everyone has one:
-A Bedroom
-A Nether Portal Room
-A Storage Room
-A Furnace Room

Optional:
-Bathroom
-Pool

Thats all I got.

Help please?

EDIT:

The Reason I ask this is I plan on making a Stilt style house, where each "Room" Will be a separate Unit held up by stilts, and each room will be higher than the last. I am currently planning on making four of these, and they will vary in size depending on what is going inside.

Any Ideas, going along with this?

I have living room, bedroom, storage room and a lounge leading to my minecart substation.  Then I have a bunch of empty rooms awaiting ideas.  My pool is outside, it's olympic size with diving boards so I couldn't put it inside.

Its a game, so every room should be related to some game play element. If you're playing on SP, RP rooms are a bit lame. There is no need for a bathroom in minecraft.

I've got a crafting room, supply room, vault, and underground farm. That's it.

I have a kitchen, black and white checkered floor. Plank counters, furnace, workbench and chest with food stuffs in it. Mostly for aesthetics.

I have a kitchen/meat locker.   It has chests full of meat and a furnace for cooking it.   If I ever do alternative foods (bread/soup) I put those there too.

I typically have a small indoor lake for fishing (with a tackle box to store the gear and the fish.)

You could just have a large house and mix it all together in a large room...

Depends on your personal preference, I usually expand my house but never get round to actually finishing it.

Normally I have the following rooms:
[*:jsnk1yaz]Storage/crafting/smelting/everything else with a nice wool floor.
    [*:jsnk1yaz]Testing (redstone/water/lava/etc).
    [*:jsnk1yaz]Bedrock to skylimit double-helix three-by-three staircase.
    [*:jsnk1yaz]A number of branch mines.

Fire And Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice

Different strokes...I have one big room and each corner is dedicated to a particular function. Bench and furnaces in the center so all I need to do is stand in one place and turn right or left to do most things. Nothing is walled off or partitioned except a) mob tower :) portal c) wheat farm d) lava area.

I do have several different groupings of chests surrounding the central work area. Kitchen stuff (eggs, wheat, milk, cane, porkchops) in one corner adjacent to the wheat farm. Outdoors stuff (many things gathered from mobs) goes in a chest or two by the door. Building materials, junk cobbles, and wood go together in another corner for easy access. Ores, sand, and coal/fuel go in chests directly under the furnaces. Tools are stored overhead in a chest over the workbench along with ingots, redstone and diamonds.

It saves a ton of time not having to walk back and forth to get items, craft them, and then walk again to store the new items. It doesn't look super pretty, but it's clean, well organized, uncluttered, and mostly idiot proof.

I usually have a:

fishing pond/swimming pool/zen garden
Underground arboretum
Farms for wheat reeds and cactus
portal room
storage room
bedroom
Infinite cobble generator room
and a combination minecart freight depot and train station

i guess i could add a testing ground but i typically do that outside.

DANCE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can just imagine it, Steve going 'U can't touch this, nanana...'

EDIT: Since there will be minecart boosters in 1.5. Make an archery room with moving minecarts for moving targets or obstacles. FTW.

i have a bedroom, a library (to make the house look nice), a chest room for different materials in different chests, living room with a fireplace and a seat, a crafting room/kitchen, bathroom, except, for the toilet i make a 2x2 pit of water which goes down into a sewer line which leads to a lake which i put unwanted items in the toilet just like real life :), i always make a portal room which looks scary, sometimes i make a mob trap but not very often oooorr i make a dark room and then make an observational room to look onto the monsters in it. and thats literally what i usually make in my minecraft house, i never make it fancy, i make it into a hill and call it a hobbit hole...until mojang bring out something which has a use for a house, thats all the rooms i usually do ;).
