Hello!YellowDoesMC here,I have a question are you good at drawin' stuffs like minecraft skins? If so,can you give me a tips on drawing a minecraft skin????
For any drawing whether it be digital or paper based, you'll have to know your basics. I mean no one begins creating masterpieces simply when they start off (maybe a genius or prodigy could perhaps, but in reality that is not likely to occur to me.) The basics to me includes shading and proportion. Knowing how the light will affect your piece will be of utmost importance. If the light is directly above your character the shadows would fall directly underneath. blah blah blah, you'll just have to learn this! It's important. Knowing your proportions helps too (I'm talking about the minecraft proportions. Normal ones are also good to know as well if you are interested in creating more semi-realistic images.) The feet and arms are the roughly the same length. The head is a cubic shape, and the body is simply a rectangle.
Start off by doodling what you want to draw, as "This is the way to get your creative juices flowing."
My Digital Drawing techniques I use are listed below:
Prerequisites: Have a digital art program like Gimp, PaintoolSai, Opencanvas 5.5, MangaStudio, Painter, Photoshop, or etc. [I strongly dislike paint.net, Gimp is a free alternative.]
1. Thumbnailing: A quick and small sketch that lays out the Pose. Drop the opacity and enlarge. [Flip the canvas over to see if the body proportions look correct. This is the most important step to use when creating digital art.]
2. Sketching: This is were I add details like the skins accessories.
3. Outlining: Create a new layer on top of the Sketch, outline the Sketch (adjust the opacity of the sketch layer if its to bright.)
4. Coloring: Drop the opacity of the outline, then begin creating flat colors. These are simply one color that represent an area; the shirt is one color of red, the skin is a different color, and etc.
5. Detailing: Apply different shades of color to the areas that have flats. (ex. Use an air brush to get a smooth skin tone look.)
6. Shading: (Create a new layer) Where is the light coming from? (these light sources can come from multiple directions.) Now try to apply these highlights and shadows to the best of your abilities.
******* Having a graphics tablet, touchscreen android, or ipad can help create more dynamic line arts and overall help in the process listed above. *******
Hope this helps, whoever was interested in reading this.
Thnx for replying/viewing!
