So I was wondering what everyone use the nether for, if it's used at all. Personally, I visit it to score some glowstone and a few blocks of netherrack for fireplaces, I could just never be bothered to stay more than a little while, and rarely go there at all.

Why not the meat block Notch mentioned. you'd have to set it down and eat it like a cake. Plus I want to be able to make a castle entirely out of meat. A castle that is built with murder, animal cruelty, heart attacks, and delicious. OM. NOM.

Same as you, also if your portal is near a lava pool it makes it a good place to get lava buckets. I sometimes use soul sand, depending on my textures and my project.

For builders its a great place to make a horror/hell-themed building. Others dont like it because its monotonous and Ghast screams are the second most annoying sound after cows.  :)

Easy way to travel a huge distant.

Kill ghasts for fun.Even if its pretty expsnsive.

I built a house made of obsidian in the nether, lol.

I usually go to get some netherrack for fires and stuff, a few buckets of lava and some shrooms if I can find any.

I think I've only been in The Nether once or twice. But when I get there, I horde everything! First thing I do is mine all of the Netherrack I can get and then hunt for glowstone and pick anything else up.

I don't really even use glowstone. It's a pain to mine, it has a 9-to-1 exchange rate, and most of the time, it falls in lava. Other than travel and shroomz, it's useless.
