Awesome mods. But I wonder why blame it all to the Wolf? Though I agree the Mojang guys (we're not just talking about Notch here anymore) should have done MORE than just Wolves, the Wolf thing is a step forward for implementing Mobs, as it is the very first tamable Mob. That and the fact that many of us do want a pet/companion in Minecraft. And to be honest, based from my own experience with other beta software online, it bothers me little that Mojang implements very few features in Beta -- after all, it's called "Beta" for a reason. It would bother me indeed if the guys would implement very few features before the actual 'final' version of MC.

Awesome mods!
I'm definitely going to use the lighting blocks!

Hey, love your ideas, would be much more appreciated if you could make a port of your mod for SMP?

It seems like a good mod, but it really needs a title change. I thought this was going to improve the wolves somehow or give them armor.

Sorry, not going to happen. The title was intentional, and to make a point about the overall direction that Minecraft is taking in its development.

I like you good sir.

Hey, this is fabulous and I absolutely look forward to using it; however, could you make a separate download with everything but the minecart improvements because I prefer to use feanorith's
viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=162515

Everything else looks truly amazing (cement, omg...)

Also, since you're already adding new items, could you make a silver ore, which drops silver and can only be used for making drinking cups, ore blocks for decoration, and maybe later mirrors(?)
I know others have tried various silver things, but they're usually
1. buried in a pack with way too many pointless ores
2. give silver strange unneeded uses (silver swords)

Thanks

Hm, Flowerchild, are you sure that the hibachis are powered by adjacent blocks? Oddly enough, I can't get them to do so.

As far as I can tell from the first post only light blocks pass on power.

Edit: on a side note, this is not a good title. A good title should have something to do with the mod(s) rather then be a protest that has little to do with mod's functionality.

Asking for a whole separate download is kind of insulting don't you think? And then you throw in a request to boot? I know you probably didn't mean to insult, and maybe you wouldn't insult the author of this mod, but it's insulting to me as a modder. Though, asking for means of compatibility, now that would be acceptable (and is a request on my part).

Are you talking about directly adjacent blocks, or indirectly (like with the light blocks)?

If it's the first, it's a bug, if it's the 2nd it's how it was designed :Diamond:

Only the light blocks work off indirect sources, if that's what you were asking about.

I've updated the OP with the following message:

[*********IMPORTANT**********]

I am VERY open to suggestions and appreciate feedback, however, the following requests will be ignored. They are simply non-negotiable.

1) Any request to change the name of the mod. This is not going to happen. Read this thread ( viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=256836 ) if you want to know the origin of the name.

2) Any request to break the mod into separate mods. Maintaining and updating a single mod is a huge amount of work to begin with, and takes me away from developing new features. As such, I'd much rather have cool new stuff in the mod than a bunch of separate ones.

[semi-rant included]

Not to sound like a douche, but just because you don't like the wolves as much as others doesn't mean this mod is better than wolves...I don't understand how a tamable mob that fights for you when tamed is a bad thing in terms of how Minecraft's development is going. I'm definitely going to give these mods a download, but I still don't think that when a lot of people say "Hey can you please change the name, it's not necessarily true," you can just deny them. Majority rules. At least just change it so it doesn't seem like it's improving the wolves. Call it "Flower's Mods" or something.

In other words, :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: for you. Keep up the good work.

edit due to reading the newest post: Alright, alright. I'm not removing the rant though, because I think you need to see it.

This is the best bunch of mods ever! They're nice and simple, and don't really change the gameplay much. I also like how they're hard to craft as well.

Thanks for these! I'll be definitely using them. :tnt:

Awesome sauce :D

Very glad you like them, and really appreciate the positive feedback :tnt:

And yes, all features are intended to evolve the gameplay rather than radically change it. I also put some effort in making sure the crafting recipes made "logical" (in terms of game-logic anyways) use of the unused blocks in minecraft within their crafting recipes. In particular, I wanted to make sure that the mod gave some purpose to going into the nether.

I fail to see how my mod is in any way, shape, or form, a democracy. I prefer to think of it as a benevolent dictatorship :)

That's a great idea. But at present, I have no idea if it's even possible with this kind of content.

Wouldn't it require both the clients and the server to have the same mod installed? Is that really practical for SMP?

Regardless, I added it to the todo list :D

This mod looks great. Going to try it out in a few.

This will probably be a nice replacement for PowerMineCarts, as I was having trouble with mobs getting stuck in the actual PMC and causing weird issues (stopping, going backwards, etc.).

Only things I would comment on are:
:mossystone: ModLoader Compatibility - This will really help, since most people using mods on this forum use it. (Looks like you are already looking into this.)
:Portabella: Possibly making the mod non intrusive - Creating outside_mod files that do all the changes, instead of altering original .class files (for maximum compatibility with other mods).
:chestfront: New track suggestion: X or Intersection track where a north and south line could intersect with an east and west track. I think there used to be something like this in the old minecart mod that was abandoned long ago. I believe he used a regular stone pressure plate and carts would just continue on them in a straight direction until they came in contact with the track on the other side. That was such a brilliant and useful little item!

Anyways, great job and I love the title :)

Actually some mods seem to work without them being installed on the server itself, like zombe's mod fly mod or toomanyitems i think, I don't know anything about modding but maybe look into their files might help to port ths mod on SMP? Plus this might sooner or later help you with it no? :"http://www.minecraft...f=1039&t=179255

Anyway, keep up the good work !
