Hey everyone, I've been working on a 512x512 Photo Realism pack for the past 3-4 months, let me know which version of cobblestone you liike more. Keep in mind these pictures are just quickly made prototypes. Thanks

I used uncopyrighted open source images and edited them to make them seamless, to get the right shading, to change the colours etc. That is okay, right?
Well, as long as you MADE them.. as in you drew out each stone pixel by pixel and didn't just grab something off the web and photoedit it. Then I say they both would work good for something.

That's fine. You may be asked to provide a source to prove the validity of your claim. We take copyright kinda seriously around here.
But to answer your question, I prefer the second one.

Alright thanks for the response and good to know, when the pack is up I'll indefinitely have proof for any textures that I may have used images to create.
Yes one big issue we have had around here is anything that comes out as 'realism' 99% of the time, they are just people ripping textures off google or stealing from other packs and then trying to say they made them.
Prof is vital, even if just showcasing textures like you are so people not only know you are using free to use textures, but we can see just how much you are editing them.
Keep in mind, packs that just use images even free ones with no real work put into them are frowned on, mainly because doing such is easy and takes little work when others may spend hours or days on a single texture... to be over showered by someone hardly doing anything...
So yes, keep all that in mind, show proff and really showcase that you are doing far FAR more then just using something and doing small edits.
It would be a good idea to keep a little text file containing links to your sources, like a bibliography.
One little problem with that.. :/ Like i've previously stated, I've been working on this pack for months. It wouldn't be physically possible to find every single link that i've used for this pack.. All I can say for now is that on google i set my search preferences to "Labeled for reuse with modification" or i've gone on websites that are dedicated to allowing users to download free uncopyrighted images. Also, I'm offended that someone in the previous comment said that making a pack the way I am doesn't take much time.. I've dedicated a solid 300+ hours just making the textures for this pack and I'm just about half way done... But regardless, what do you reccomend in regards to "proving" that I used uncopyrighted images? Also, if I were to use copyrighted images, theres a good chance that someone would easily find out, (the creator/company etc.) but anyway, a response would be great, thanks
I also prefer the second one.And I agree with Nick, even if you are drawing textures one pixel at a time they take a tremendous amount if time and effort. Especially if you make a lot of use of CTM.

The first one for Stone Brick and the second one for Cobblestone!
Thanks! I've decided to go with the second one although I still have to patch it up a bit. Also, I've already got a stone brick texture that I think is perfect but thanks for the suggestion!

That said, they both look great.
