Because of the 360 edition's limited world size and lack of mods, SSP can become very stale. That's why I am suggesting a new game mode that takes from adventure-mode on the pc edition but is more dynamic as I'll describe below.
The main idea is simple; give the player the ability to tweak various aspects of gameplay from within a sort of advanced menu. I'm talking about check boxes and sliders that control variables such as:
- length of the minecraft day night cycle
- mob spawn rates
-enable/disable specific mobs from spawning
-enable/disable specific blocks from gen. in the world
-enable/disable specific recipes from being available
- adjust player health
-adjust mob hit points and/or the hit points they dish out to the player
- enable/disable specific (or all) blocks from being breakable by the player
- adjust the hit points of specific blocks ( how long it takes to break a block)
- number of lives (deaths) the player is given before the world save deletes itself; this can be one life (hardcore), some integer, or infinite
- adjust individual mob movement speeds
- adjust how long it takes for crops to grow
- the list goes on.....
This menu would not be available in Creative or Survival, only in this new game mode which I will call Challenge Mode. Any existing world save or a world about to be made, can be set to be played in Challenge Mode (just like when selecting Creative or Survival). However, when Challenge Mode is selected, the above options must be edited and then saved for that world. Once saved, they can no longer be altered so they are permanent to that world save. Notice that I stated "any existing world." This means that a world can be used in Creative Mode like normal and then later set to Challenge Mode. This allows the players to create "rule sets," so to speak, by altering the options for a world, and that world may or may not have player-built structures pre existing on it. Do you see what I'm getting at?
Challenge Mode would allow custom maps created by the community. Minecrafters using the xbox 360 would be contributing to its development and success instead of waiting for 4J to do all the work.
One obstacle would be allowing world-saves to be shared online so that players can download and play on maps made by others.
To give you a taste of how powerful this could be, here's an example:
In challenge mode, disable all mobs but zombies. Make them spawn at an absurd rate and set their attack to cause instant death. Give the players one life each. Now you have hardcore zombie- apocalypse-last-man-standing mode ready to be played on any map that you or someone else made.
Or just use Challenge mode to make small tweaks to your gameplay. Don't like creepers, disable them from spawning in your world.
That sums my idea pretty well and I hope it intrigued you. I do realize the scope of this project is quite ambitious but I would love to see it happen. It would give us xbox 360 users a lot more power that would make up for the limitations of the 360 edition. User made content would be available from within Microsoft as opposed to bringing mods in externally from the PC.
I really like this idea. I also like that you suggested giving players the ability to share (download) maps. This is something that MCXB needs.
Regarding the permanent saving of Challenge mode game settings: I think it would be better to have an option to lock the game settings, which would allow players to test the settings before committing to them. Then, when the player locks the game settings and saves the world, the settings can no longer be changed.
Make them spawn at an absurd rate...
The mob spawn should still be limited to the mob cap.

I agree with your suggestion about locking the game settings. The main point I was trying to get by with the settings being permanent is to restrict cheating or playing a map in a way it was not intended to be played.
Regarding your second point; you are correct that the mob cap would not be changed. But the rate or even proximity at which mobs respawn could be changed and I don't think that would hurt the performance of the xbox. Or the aggression level of mobs could be another option (how far away mobs can detect the player) included in the settings.
Well, on the PC there's adventure mode, in which the player can't break blocks. I think they have a command block that allows "events" to be scripted into a map. Also on the PC side, players build maps that have linear progression to them, sort of like obstacle courses with goals or challenges to them. Between all the mods most of this is probably covered. I believe that in mo' creatures you could set the spawn rates or probabilities of spawning of the individual mobs. Between all of these things on the PC edition, I think you could say that my idea is already out for pc.
I was thinking more along the lines of something that was a zombie apocalypse mode, which would be fun for everyone. This is a good idea as well.
With my idea players could generate their own game content, including a "zombie mode" like I stated above, as well as adventure maps and so on......It could be used as a tool to basically mod minecraft from within the game itself. Though what would be modded is limited to what already exists in vanilla minecraft.

Technically speaking, we can share maps but it requires using the computer to mod the save files. Which is extremely easy to do! (Gotta remember, save files are saved as CON files, which are offline files that can be used by ANYBODY, if modified on the computer. LIVE files are the ones which don't work like this and require you to hack and remember! Hacking is bad!).

I'd like to see a form of death match with quick match.
Just have pre-created levels done by mojang, in the form of levels sent in by the players, or levels just simply created by them, and have it be you just join a random match and you kill eachother for 5 minutes.
Get potions to enhance game play, and fight with the usual weapons etc.
I 100% support this idea. It would defiantly make things more interesting and allow for tons more of variety in pvp or adventure maps. It would also be nice to be able to turn of animal spawning.
I also think that there are two things that you should also be able to adjust:
Weather: Options to set it to a certain type of weather (Clear, rain, thunderstorm) and then also an option to adjust the frequency of storms, (Ranging from never, rare, frequent or always on)
And also an option to adjust the rate of mob drops.

Funny how I posted something exactly like this, and it got not only no support, but it gets locked because there's another suggestion on it as well.
I really regret joining these forums, simply because of the Mods. I try sharing ideas for other people to see and view their thoughts, and whenever I do, they're shot down and the thread is locked, even when other people make literally the same thing, but in a different manner, and people support it all the way and they stay up forever.
I'm fine with your thread, but I'm tired of mine being shot down.
They better add this into the game. I'm getting sick of them deciding not to add things that take literally two seconds to do. This would make sense to take a while, but if they do it, it better make up for everything.

I love this idea! It would make playing this game so much more fun and would keep a massive fan base happy and those that aren't that creative something to do besides just playing the basic game of Minecraft over and over again. It wouldn't be to hard to set up from a developing stand point and would keep everyone tided over until the next update. I would be willing to wait the time it takes for 4J to come out with 2 updates if I could play this. The only problem I can see with this would be the locking of the settings. Maybe whenever you went to go put it up for download you could lock the settings or you could leave them open to be changed. This would be pretty fun when you are playing with your friends and wanted to change up a couple of settings so that that world you have been playing on can go from a nice fun survival game to a terrifying zombie apocalypse so that those diamonds you found become your lifeline. I also had another couple of suggestions for options...
1. The ability to turn off hunger, or starve faster.
2. Where you spawn and if there is a delay Halo-style to when you respawn.
3. What mobs drop. Want zombies to drop tons of diamonds? Go ahead. Want them to very rarely drop wood? Go ahead.
4. What mobs attack. Zombies vs. Blazes vs. Endermen? Yes please.
5. What loot spawns in chests.
6. The player stats can be changed. How fast you run, how high you jump, look sensitivity, and FOV can all be changed.
7. What blocks spawn where. The nether can be made out fluffy wool!
8. Sea level. Water world!
9. What biomes spawn. So much mushroom biomes!
10. Crafting recipes. You can change up recipes. ex. Ender Pearls can be crafted Enchanted Books.

Oh hey. Looks like you're reading my signature. That's nice. If you thought I was going to put something funny here, I'm not. I will however put a link to my suggestion about gold tools. I think it's fairly popular. It would be nice if it was added. Just click the link and look at it. Please? I'm desperate. http://www.minecraft...-arent-useless/

It wouldn't work like that. Can you imagine the size of the lists and menus if there was an option for every little thing? The crafting recipes alone could take an hour to re-create (And could be exploited. What if you made diamond blocks craftable from dirt?) And in the original idea, there weren't options for creating world's. You can't adjust sea levels, or dungeons spawns, or nether blocks or anything like that, its not mcedit. Some of these ideas are a little bit crazy. Sorry to shoot you down, but we should only be able to adjust:
Player speed, health, jump height, hunger and number or respawns.
Mobs that spawn (Adjusted via checklist)
Passive mob speed, health, etc.
Hostile mob speed, health, etc.
Nether mob speed, health etc.
Frequency and number of mob drops (We could not change their drops, list would be too long)
Duration of day and night
Frequency of weather
Game ticks (Applies to spawn rate, mob growth, plant growth)
And that should be it. If we were able to change blocks in the world, or make a certain mob drop a certain item, just image how long of a list that would make (Think about how many different blocks and items there are) And now we have a short, simple list that will greatly effect game play without making massive changes to terrian (We have creative mode for that)

It would all how deep you wanted to go into the system. If you wanted to create a really detailed game mode you could. With the changes you listed it would keep the list down in size, but would severely limit your creativity. Also, the thing about dirt to diamonds should be possible. If you want to have that setting then go ahead. It will take the fun out of the game but that's your choice. I think the way you would change the drop rates would be an interesting GUI. You would have a mob that you could click on, then you would open up a creative style menu where you could drag and drop an item. The crafting recipes I don't know about, I was just kind of throwing that out there. Other than that, it would be a fairly short list if you did some folder work. Or maybe just have a page for each mob where you can alter its statistics. Then a page for weather, a page for players, a page for world generation (i.e. the sea level, biomes, frequency of generated structures) and a page for altering crafting recipes. That would be fairly contained I think.
By the way, just because it wasn't in the original post doesn't mean I shouldn't have tried to build on it or change it a little. This was just my idea on what I would change to make it better in my own view. Yes, I know that it isn't MCedit but I was just saying that we could change what blocks generated in places of others. Making stuff like castles would be left to creative mode but doing something like converting the entire nether into a dimension of wool would be nearly impossible and very very time consuming.
