I am getting a crash that seems related to optifine because without optifine installed I don't have the problem. I use a sphax texture pack with a ton of texture add ons. Everything works fine until I add the IC2 and Nuclearcontrol pack addons for 1.5.2. Is there some kind of limit for how many textures optifine can load?
In Minecraft 1.6 all block textures are packed in one texture map, which may get quite big and reach the maximum texture size of the GPU. Using texture packs with many connected textures or adding many mod textures may cause to this problem.
Sorry if this has been mentioned, but there's a LOT to weed through here...
My question concerns Optifine for MC16x and resource packs which provide random mob skin variants. The pack I use places such mob variants in an mcpatcher folder (where CTM is also housed). For the most part Optifine seems to have no problem utilizing this folder. Farm animals and most hostiles show expected skin variations. (Oddly, black cows seem to have morphed into spotted cows, no biggie except that the blacks were my favorite.)
Spiders (and possibly Endermen) are another matter. The pack I use provides quite a few skin variants for them. So far as I can tell, these variants show up in-game as glowing white, though the glow has no radius. I've taken the pack apart and see nothing amiss with spiders.
Is this in any way a quirk with MC162-B1 Optifine, or Optifine in conjunction with mob skin variants housed in an mcpatcher folder? Possibly just normal teething pains that will eventually work themselves out? Is the mcpatcher folder the best place to house skin variants for use with Optifine?
Other than the above, the transition from MC152 to 162 has been surprisingly smooth, All seems to work as it should, though I've not yet needed to test the one mod I run that relies on Forge.
On a Vanilla install, Optifine will produce the following failure message in the launcher: https://s3.amazonaws....2_OptiFine.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
Job 'Version & Libraries' finished with 1 failure(s)!
I'm on a Mac, and have seen others reporting this as well in separate threads. Install of Optifine was correct, but apparently the launcher is trying to fetch that version name from Mojang's servers.
The new launcher always tries to fetch libraries from the server, but only complains if the local file is missing so it can not start the game. Make sure that the local file is existing in "libraries" in the correct folder.

...
The white spiders and endermen are caused by incorrect color of the transparent pixels of the textures "enderman_eyes" and "spider_eyes". The vanilla textures have black color for the transparent pixels and work OK. Some resource packs have white color for the pixels and have this problem.
MCPatcher and OptiFine 1.2.5 fix the color when loading the texture. OptiFine 1.2.6 does not have the fix yet, after the 1.6 reorganization it is not as easy as before.
You may bug the resource pack author to fix the wrong textures instead of relying on OptiFine to fix them later.
Well, Forge and Optifine don't seem to like each other very much:

Not sure if this is the fault of this or Forge.
EDIT: I should mention that Minecraft works with only Forge as well as with only Optifine.

Same here, sir. Horrible bug.
Tested: with optifine as the only mod in Magic Launcher, works fine. With optifine + forge in Magic Launcher, blocks are invisible
...
After 1.6 it's work strange. With Optifine enabled i got same FPS as with disabled. It's no problem coz Optifine helps me other ways. The problem is in text. More chat messages = lower FPS. And when i hit F3 FPS drop from 50-60 to below 10. If i hit F3 again everything back to normal (tested using fraps)
The unicode text rendering is fixed, available in next version B2.

This looks like a Forge problem, as it crashes inside the Forge classes and I see no direct connection to OptiFine.
I'm using Hexxit modpack. It runs on 1.5.2
Does anyone know why Optifine works on Windows and Linux but the same modpack.jar wont work on Mac?
And its only with the Hexxit modpack. Tekkit Lite works just fine.
Does anyone has Optifine for Hexxit running on a Mac? Or is just not possible?
Check my thread, I even have an automated installer for linux/windows/mac
Only works with standard launcher, however.
yeah but no, sorry i do not know if you have permission from the OP in this thread to even do that plus i prefer OP fixes his mod. i do realize this is a big change in MC launcher and all and i know he will do his best to fix adressed issues.
until then i just play without as i still get 100fps on MC i just like to use shaders and for that i need optifine

Whenever I install optifine B2 for 1.6.2, the game still says that B1 is installed instead. And in case it helps, I used the not so easy version for forge to install it. And yes, I followed the instructions exactly.
Just downloaded the new version of Optifine HD_U_B2 for 1.6.2. Everything works fine but in game when I use F3 it still says HD_U_B1 and the chat notifies me that there is a new version of HD_U_B2 which I'm fairly certain I just installed. xD
Tried reinstalling it twice, same thing comes up. Just a minor annoyance but still.

Not sure if this is the fault of this or Forge.
EDIT: I should mention that Minecraft works with only Forge as well as with only Optifine.
Fixed, available in next version B2.
Client> 2013-07-16 12:38:46 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] There is a binary discrepency between the expected input class net.minecraft.client.settings.GameSettings (aui) and the actual class. Checksum on disk is 18272e3f, in patch 316717c8. Things are probably about to go very wrong. Did you put something into the jar file?
Client> 2013-07-16 12:38:46 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] The game is going to exit, because this is a critical error, and it is very improbable that the modded game will work, please obtain clean jar files.

- What other mods are installed?

Error log in a spoiler?
The unicode text rendering is fixed, available in next version B2.
What is the water texture glitch?
Make sure to add " -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true" in the JVM arguments.
This looks like a Forge problem, as it crashes inside the Forge classes and I see no direct connection to OptiFine.
AA = Antialiasing
AF = Anisotropic Filtering
The XRay mod is probably not compatible with Optifine.
Does anyone know why Optifine works on Windows and Linux but the same modpack.jar wont work on Mac?
And its only with the Hexxit modpack. Tekkit Lite works just fine.
Does anyone has Optifine for Hexxit running on a Mac? Or is just not possible?
yeah but no, sorry i do not know if you have permission from the OP in this thread to even do that plus i prefer OP fixes his mod. i do realize this is a big change in MC launcher and all and i know he will do his best to fix adressed issues.
until then i just play without as i still get 100fps on MC i just like to use shaders and for that i need optifine
What is not working, screenshot, error log?
Tried reinstalling it twice, same thing comes up. Just a minor annoyance but still.
If i get in a server i cant see any block only the torch and signs.
PLEASE HELP ME!
