Experimental OptiFine_1.8.1_HD_AA_D1
is available here: Download 1, Download 2

Adds Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) to mipmaps.

What is new:
- Ported to 1.8.1
- Mostly compatible with ModLoader and Forge, but not quite. For best results install on a clean minecraft.jar.

Please test and report back. B)
If you see visual artifacts, check your driver settings (all should be set to application-controlled) and post a screenshot.

mcp is already out for 1.9.5
Can we expect an optifine for 1.9.5?

No it's not. Unless you think MCP is MCPatcher, which is not the case, it's Minecraft Coder Pack.

Actually, if you look at the Minecraft Coder Pack (MCP) "Release Page" under the "Releases" Section, there is mention of an MCP pre-release 4.5 available for Minecraft 1.9.5 pre-release 5:

Is ModLoader and Forge support possible and just don't quite have it working? I've recently become a convert to playing single player with a bunch of mods now. I'm also assuming that this is based off of classic and not smooth or MT, can we expect smooth or MT versions in the future?

But my question was about what the OP posted...
He gave a code to play minecraft with less memory, but I can't run it well. That's why I'm asking.

This is what the OP wrote:
Spoiler

And my problem is that I don't know where to keep the username and password in that code, that's all.
I tried putting it where it says username and password but it won't work, and when I delete those two it works, but it doesn't log me in my account.

I made a few videos that show Optifine versions and features in action with very far render distance,.
Often with Watershader enabled, sometimes without fog, sometimes without clouds, often brighter and always at 4x time lapse because it recorded at 1-8 fps.

How to install optifine is wrong, never go straight from zip to jar, their two completly different formats and are not compatible, like trying to put a square in a triangular hole.
This is how to install Optifine:
1. Download
2. create desktop folder named optifine
3. open Optifine zip file
4. move files to created folder
5 Open and move files into minecraft.jar
6. no more unable to add problems!
7. i'm a noob and i know this!!! :D

pretty diamond... :Diamond:
You dont need to make a folder on the desktop you can just drag the class files from the optifine file

EDIT: you dont need to brag either <_<

Very amazing! I went from a 30-40ish FPS Vanilla to a dreaded 8-12 fps choppy modded, and added optifine-- went up to around 45 fps! amazing!
I went and checked my vanilla specs-- from the 30-40 I went up to an amazing 65-70! (I'm on a bad [the not good one] laptop, with manufacturer-level graphics/etc)

That's right. The thing is, we're on computers. The computer does things for us. When we drag things from most archive managers (e.g. WinRAR), or even opening a file from within a compressed file, the program first extracts the file(s) to a temporary directory, and then moves the file(s) to wherever we dragged them or opens them. This is especially the case with zip files, where the program has to extract the entire archive in order to access any of the files within it.

It's not like we're taking the archive and the jar and opening them in hex editors, taking data from one and pasting them in the other. In that case there would be problems.

Is the smooth version compatible with modloader? I get a overwrite warning and the size of the file is lower than modloader's.

One thing I'm having some issues with is the view distance, I'm trying to use view far to increase it to 512 but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
Any ideas?

I had that all the time since using optifine and after seeing the videos that username_not_taken made I first realized that this is indeed a bug, I just thought this feature would be added later or something...

So the problem is that when I change render distance to anything farther than 'vanilla far' (256) by use of the Far View button, it doesn't change anything, still only rendering to 256. Only thing that happens is that the fog recedes farther away. I can see from the chunk updates shown on the debug screen that minecraft is loading the chunks beyond the 'render horizon', it's just not rendering them.

It's compatible. Just overwrite the modloader's file.
