Hello there! My name is Jack Harvey, and I am the Executive Producer for ConsiderItCrafted, a machinima team dedicated to creating films using the medium of Minecraft machinimas. We are passionate performers, writers, and directors. We also all, to a certain extent, enjoy Minecraft, and it is our medium of our choice. If you think you are of a similar mindset, read on-this may be for you! If, however, you love making minecraft videos and also happen to write, it probably won't work.
So what do we do? Well, we a high council that has bi-weekly meetings, (every two weeks, not twice a week) attended by representatives of each of our teams, or groups. These include voice actors, body actors, writers, directors, graphics people, and so on. Together we look at what projects have potential (submitted by writers) and assign them to the people who are interested, and seem like good matches.
We're a close-knit group with dedication and commitment to the craft. (see what I did there?) However, as a rule, real life comes first, and we don't want to take you away from family, friends, school, or work. (Although hopefully if you're responsible enough to have a job you'd be smart enough to prioritize it over YouTube)
All the same, we try to be as organized and streamlined as possible. We have schedules and due dates, which we expect to be followed unless you contact me or whoever is leading whatever project you happen to be a part of with a valid reason. "I forgot." is not a valid reason, and expect to be kicked from the team for something like that. We try to be as professional as possible, for a bunch of amateurs. Hopefully you will too.
-Voice actors I would think that a voice actor's job should go without too much explanation. You have a leader who knows your range and skill-set, and contacts you with potential roles that have been given to him at council meetings. Then you say yes or no. He's kind of like your agent, which is pretty damn cool. -Directors Arguably the most difficult job, but one of the most rewarding. You require a lot of skills and assets, unlike other roles which are a lot more specific. All directors attend council meetings, and have scripts submitted to them from writers. Naturally, they also write projects of their own. Directors get to boss everyone else around to achieve their vision for a series, and work most directly with the most people. They need to be talented at editing, and be able to record with quality graphics and fps. Obviously, they also need to be creative, passionate, and able to work with others. -Writers These are the people who focus on writing scripts, rather than adapting them to video. It is not recommended that a long series is written by these people. That's more for the directors. Writers focus more on shorts (20 minutes and under) and original Minecraft songs and parodies. Previous examples of scripts are a MUST. Obviously. -Graphics people Ah. my beautiful graphics people. I love these guys. You are quite similar to voice actors in the way that you have a boss who attends council meetings, and suggests certain artists for certain projects. This means thumbnails and skin artists for the most part. So be good at them. -Musicians/Composers/Whatever Term You Like to Label Yourself As Okay, I'm smart enough not to call you something insulting like 'music makers' or some like that, but you all ask to be called something else. Political Correctness gone overboard much? Also quite similar to Graphics people and voice actors, so read theirs. Also, lots more collaboration than the other two. Expect to learn lots from other talented... uh... Creators of Melodic Noises? -Promoters/Recruiters Definitely one of the most essential cogs in the machine. You get our name out there. (ConsiderItCrafted, in case you forgot) This could be through tactical use of Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and other such websites I know nothing about. You also can make forum threads like this one. You should know about this stuff, so you know, assign jobs amongst yourself and do them and stuff. As I said, I know nothing about that. -Organizer of Body Actors This is a one person job I expect, so you get to make up your own professional-sounding title. You, or more if you feel that the load is too heavy, are in charge of looking at the recording schedule and getting body actors for that date/time. As we get multiple projects going at once, we will DEFINITELY need more of you, come to think of it. For now, however, one should do the job.
And that is all. God that was long, wasn't it? Anyways, if you're interested in any one of these jobs add 'tinybat111' on Skype. Also, just comment on here saying that you've sent the Skype request, or we won't accept it. We'll put you to work, although not necessarily as whatever you want first. First you have to prove yourself as committed and able to get along with the rest of us. That means a bit of body acting.
Thanks, and I hope to work with many new faces soon! -Jack Harvey
