Hello, hello! Welcome to Quartz Plus, a rather simple Forge mod that adds nether quartz to the overworld!
What does Quartz Plus do?
Simply put, Quartz Plus adds quartz to the overworld, in three different variants: White (default) quartz, rose quartz, and smoky quartz, along with a full compliment of blocks for the last two (stairs and slabs coming soon!)

Here's an out-dated but still to-the-point spotlight by Matjer:
0.8 - Changed smoky quartz textures, now more orange-y than just gray, fixed pillar textures, and relocalized "Nether Quartz" to just "Quartz," -I'm still working on stairs and slabs, update to 1.7.10 coming SOON!
0.7 - Added smoky and rose quartz variants with full compliment of blocks (pillar textures are broken right now) and decreased quartz spawn amount by 66% (only in the overworld.)
0.6 - Added quartz tools back in, now with a config option to disable them to decrease compatibility issues with other mods (namely applied energistics.)
0.5 - Updated to 1.7.2, temporarily removed quartz tools.
0.4 - Added a config option to choose whether surface quartz ore drops itself or nether quartz.
0.3 - Added modstats.org integration. Get notified of updated in-game now!

PM me first to ask me if I'll let you.

Make the download link go to my download page. I'm trying to track how many downloads I get, so I know roughly how popular my mod is.
Wow, I kinda expected this forum to be dead
Anyhoo, I'd be happy to add a config option for the 1.7 update, although I still haven't familiarized myself with the new gradle build system, so I better start cracking on that. In the meantime, I may push a build for 1.6.4 with a config option for what it drops.
Cheers,
Robosphinx
EDIT: Just pushed a build for 1.6.4, should be approved and available on curseforge within a few hours.
I can make a tutorial topic on the new build system if you'd like.
I personally just got the build system figured out last night, but I'd be happy to check it out if you made one, and I'm sure the community would appreciate it too.

1. What does the new update add? I would love to check what is in the spoiler, but they don't seem to function correctly.
2. I was literally going to make a mod that adds quartz tools, until I saw that this mod already adds quartz tools. A bit of a shame, but that's fine, I guess. :|
1.) Just updated the chanhelog in the OP
2.) Personally, I see nothing wrong with multiple mods adding the same thing, so if you still feel up to it, go for it!

Just pushed a build for 1.7.2 that should be approved within a few hours. I had to remove the quartz tools (temporarily I hope) as I haven't yet figured out tool materials in 1.7 :/

Can you make quartz tools optional in the config, or a separate download? I already have a mod that adds in quartz tools, and it would cause some problems to use them both.

I'd be happy to. Tools will be enabled by default and you can disable them as needed.

to bad applied energistics already does all this, its a great idea.... just kinda already done
This mod is a lot simpler in my opinion. Applied energetics adds a bunch of crafting recipes to go along with it, making it in some ways complicated. I think this mod would make a good alternative.

The way I see it, surface quartz adds just the quartz aspect of ae to the game, more for players who want quartz in the overworld without the load of ae, for a less heavily modded game. Anyhoo, even with ae installed as well, players can disable quartz tools and just use it for quick vanilla quartz.

Would be nice to add one option in the config file, to be able to manage the amount it spawns. I think it's very hight right now, I dont mind having Quartz in the overworld, but its everywhere, so still not sure about using it.
Oh. My. God. I never thought of this, but now that I've heard of this... I think this is genius... Like really, really, genius. *faints from awesomeness*

Added: Quartz Tools
Fixed: Ore dropped itself instead of quartz (item)

Can you describe how you're trying to view them and what kind of issue you're experiencing please? They're working just fine for me...
