So right, I have an idea. I made a MASSIVE ocean map (sp) bassically, someone makes a ship in it, then passes the map to someone else, this keeps happening until the whole ocean is the playground for an armada of evil pirates.

What about a titanic replica? with rooms, kitchens and all that stuff.
now that would be one badass thing.

I tried once, it looked pretty bad.
cba trying it again, waste of time (when you're bad) for something that looks awful.

The Titanic should certainly be possible, at least the exterior.  At a length of 269 meters it would work pretty well in a 512x512 map.

I think, though, the problems would surface when you start building the interior.  It's hard to make replicas when the walls you make are 1 meter thick.

I had the same problem when making a Zelda: Ocarina of Time replica in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.  You can't expect to be any more accurate than the game will allow you to be.

I actually work on a titanic replica.
and it's very very huge !

in order to have a 4 bloc floor (florr+ wall of 3 blocs), the titanic must be :
269,10 meters -> 487 blocs
28,50  meters -> 51 blocs
53     meters -> 96 blocs

just sooo huge.

I use the plans and pant to redraw them scaled down to mincraft's scale, it's a pain.

when it will be more advanced, I will post a link if you want

Why double the blocks/metre? Minecraft is made to a 1 block per metre scale. Players are 1.7m tall.

because, if I use a bloc per meter, I cant do all the levels (well, I can, but people cant go in)

[img]http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/451/deckplans.th.jpg

you can see on the sideview that half the height of the boat is pipe, one quarter underwater levels a the last quarter all the rooms and so.

So, if I want to walk on the boat, I must use a lot of blocks -_-'

Yes, I want 3 blocks for the walls.

EDIT :

here is the link ;)

just know that I'm less than 1/8 of the total length.
rose blocks show the total width...

Here's one I made a few weeks ago. This was actually made on a different map, one with islands and such, but then I ported it over using OMEN and PNG exports. It's just on a seastruct map. There are actually two ships, the one you start on is the one I built, there's another one of a similar size in the distance, however it's not complete. More modern-looking though. This is my friends, which was next to mine on the original map. We intended to have this map as a private sea-construct map for us to play with our ships on, but then he got bored or something.

Anyway, they're both pretty huge. Mine originally wasn't, it used to stop just past the first set of balconies, and only had one chimney. It also looked pretty ridiculous :P. Anyway, then my friend built his, and hence I HAD to go one better and make a longer ship.

It's not exactly a modern ship, and wasn't really based on anything either, just randomly decided what was needed to fill up the floors. I suppose it's loosely based on cruise-ships of the 1950s and such, in styling etc, especially the chimneys. Anyway, as for features it contains (and at this point I'm beginning to think maybe I should have started my own thread for this :P ):
15 First class rooms
56 Second class rooms
Two store rooms (prow and below top bar)
Seven bars
Two restaurants
Mall
Brig
Clinic
Two swimming pools (top deck and bottom deck)
Gym
45-seat cinema
Function room
Library
Computer room
Two lounges

It's really rather nice, and I'm very proud of it :P. For those of you that missed the link at the beginning, it's here. You start on the prow, immediately behind you is one of the restaurants and stairs to the second floor...

I made a replica of a ship on one piece. It was a giant fish boat restaurant. I loved it, but it was on the old hard clumping's server D: God rest it soul.

Oh and Id be happy to join in with the whole ocean ship building ::
