wurskniftes Bookmod
for 1.1

Version 1.9.2

UPDATE IN PROGRESS!

[===========EVEN MORE==========]
[========IMPORTANT NOTE========]
If you are reading this, you are probably one of the peoples who are waiting

on the version 1.9.3 of this mod. I have some good news and some bad news for you.

Bad news is we're postponing the release of this version indefinitely.

Good news is we've got a much better activity for you: fighting an army of mantis men.

Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line. After that you may sign up in the queue for

wurstkniftes Bookmod 2.0.

In addition to that Cave Johnson quote I want to say that I'm awfull sorry for you to wait.

I left Minecraft behind sometime cause of...."game developement matters". Things with

finding a job.....or something that is called "Betriebspraktikum" here in Germany.

But now I'm back at my Java IDE. I hope I can release the "Bookmod Reloaded"

as soon as possible. Thanks for reading, and beware of mantis men!
[=============================]

Hi minecrafters!
This is my first mod and im proud to present it.

First of all: The idea for this mod was my own, but when the half of the mod was finished,
I regonized that there was already an outdated mod like this one. So, i thank Bhaumat for his great idea
and all inspirations i got from his mod.
Here is the thread of Bhaumat:http://www.minecraft...hp?t=90494&f=25

Posted Image This mod adds new books to Minecraft, which can be written and stored in the new bookshelves.

Of course the count of books on the outside of the shelf increases with the count of items in the shelf(again: Thanks to Bhaumat, Textures by Korthek). The books are craftable in 4 colors(Red, Blue, Green and Black). The first line of the books text is the title of the book which is shown when you move your mouse over it. If you want to make copies of your books, you can use the writing table(renamed it, tho old name was more stupid than now(I know, but its too late to call it a desk)). With the new version, you can import books with the table too. The mod doesn't replace the old books and shelves, so you can use them for decoration or something else.
With the new update, you can add your own pictures to your books.

Instructions

More important note than the one beneath this:
READ IT, IT'S IMPORTANT!
I worked hard on a SMP update, and it's nearly finished, but there are massive errors that want to be fixed. So I released this SSP-only version for those who can not wait Posted Image
Also, there are some unfinished parts of the SMP update in this version, so it might me a little bit buggy. Please report bugs anyways. Maybe I can fix them before the get in the SMP update too. Thank you Posted Image

Important note for updaters:
READ IT, IT'S IMPORTANT!
The old version used slots 109 and 110, but with Minecraft 1.8 they are used by vanilla blocks. Thats why I had to change them and that means that you will loose your bookshelves and desks in old worlds. Sorry for that. But don't worry: I added an importer function to the desk, so you can re-import your old books. Posted Image

Older versions
Enaugh now! I get thousand of messages everyday about that. Here is the link! Well, you did it. Congratulations. Was it worth it? Because despite your violent behavior, the only thing you've managed to break so far... is my heart. I just wanted to protect you from destroying your Minecraft copy. But not longer. Go ahead and break it, hero. I don't care.

Installation:
First, install Risugami's ModLoader. Instructions can be found on the forum topic.

1->Extract all files from the archive.
2->Open Explorer, type in %appdata%, press enter and open the /.minecraft/bin/ folder
3->Open the minecraft.jar with a zip program like 7-Zip(www.7-zip.org)
4->Put the *.class-files and the "wk"-folder from the archive into the minecraft.jar
5->DELETE THE "META-INF"-FOLDER IF YOU HAVN'T DONE YET!
IF YOU DON'T DO THAT YOU WILL JUST GET A BLACK SCREEN!

6->Close your zip program
There are also two video tutorials. See 'Videos'.

Note: Making backups is (at least a little) recommended! In some cases, the mod crashes and can corrupt your world.

Crafting:
The new contents are crafted like this:

Red book

Blue book
Posted Image

Green book

Black book

Copy table

New bookshelf

Adding pictures:
WARNING! THIS FEATURE IS TEMPORARY REMOVED CAUSE OF SOME BUGS!

Step by step-
1.The picture has to be in png or jpg-format.
2.Put the image file into the "wkBookmodPictures"-folder in your %appdata%/.minecraft folder.
If the folder doesn't exists, you can create it. It's also created when the mod starts the first time.
3.Start minecraft.
4.Open a book.
5.Go to the last line of the page where you want your picture.
6.Type(without "): "?img.XXX", replace the XXX with the name of your picture(with .png)
7.If you move the coursor out of the last line, the picture will drawn on the second line and the last line will get
invisible.
8.If you want to remove or change the picture, just go back to the last line and the marker will appear again.

Note: The picture MUST be in the folder BEFORE starting Minecraft

Mod review by Failboat103

This video shows how to install the mod. Thanks to Oreos.

Another video tutorial by monsoon300:

Maps by users:
-[Adv] / [Puz] THE BIG TEST!! - Adventure(by Monkeylord12)
-[ADV] ReploidZeroX's Treasure Island(by ReploidZeroX)

Compatibility
The data values of the bookshelfs and the books are:
Red book-->520
Blue book-->521
Green book-->522
Black book-->523

Bookshelf-->135
Copy table-->136
The data values can now be edited in the "wkBookmod.conf"-file in your minecraft folder. It should be created when the mod runs the first time.

Known bugs
-You can't use INVEdit without loosing all books in your inventory. Put them in a container, then it will work fine
-The writing table will link two books to each other instead of copying them

If you find other bugs, please describe them in a post so I can try to fix them.

Hi spazcathamdog. If you want to create your own mods you should have at least some Java knowledge.
Because Notch obuscates his code, its very hard to understand it. But some talented people wrote the Minecraft Coder Pack, which decompiles and deobfuctes the code so you can easily undertand and modify it. You can get the MCP here: http://mcp.ocean-lab...x.php/Main_Page
If you don't want to use ModLoader, there are some good tutorials too. The sources can be edited with a simple text editor, but i used Notepad++(http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) because it has good syntax highlighting for Java code.

The making of the whole project has taken about 15 days. I hadn't much time because I still have to go to school.
Depending on how big your project is, you could finish it faster.

I hope I could help you.

Sweet, this mod looks pretty good - seems as if you've put a lot of work into it, and if it functions as good as it looks then I'll be downloading immediately. Though I have ModLoaderV5...

Also, have you edited base classes? If so, please post source.
Sorry for being so brief, gotta go to bed...
But thanks for a presumably great mod! XP

The ability to name the book would be nice.

I planned to add a function to the bookshelf that shows you the first line of the book
when you move your mouse over it.

No, not yet. I will do this later. First I have to make the mod Modloader v5 compatible, because
many have problems with that.

Very interesting indeed! This looks great! -_-

I sort of imagined having one bookshelf block counting as one book that you can read/write, making it rather simple. Your idea is great too though, treating it like an inventory.

This is one of those mods that NEEDS to be in SMP. I look forward to it when that is the case. ;)

Love the idea. Think you should add an option to change the title and SMP compatibility and for the SMP make it so that way only the people who made the book can change the book to help prevent griefing

Nice that you like it.
I will see what i can do with SMP and the titles. But first I have to get Modloader 5 working with this mod.

Ok. Thank you. I will fix this in the next update, but you can control the cursor with the arrow keys too.
