Hey

I've been working on this landmass that I want to remove. I blew up smaller parts of it at first, then I just stuck TNT into the remaining land. I closed everything else I had up on my computer, but it crashed anyway when I started the explosion. Now it crashes every time I try to log into the save.

I'm standing on max elevation, 128. The pillars of TNT are from 58 and upwards.

If anyone got experience of this happening (which I'm sure there is):
Is there anything besides using better hardware, that I can do to continue this save?

Register or log in to remove.

Do you detonate from top or bottom? Detonating at the bottom might leave some unexplored TNT at the top. Other than that.. All I can suggest is an obsidian wall to keep all the TNT from going at once, put it down the middle and explode it in two parts.

Will the 'new land' generate instantly when I'm out of the area?

MCEdit will create the new land itself, it might not look as awesome but then just go to other chunks

How many TNT do you have approximately? If it is a fairly manageable amount to divide into chunks, use obsidian as a previous poster said. Make sure that there is a decent space between these chunks or TNT can go flying sometimes, screwing you over. The reason it lags so much is because having more blocks exposed to air per-chunk increases lag dramatically. I would suggest that if you can get these manageable chunks that you also ctrl-alt-del into task manager and give minecraft (javaw.exe on my computer) an absurdly high priority. With high priority on my computer it draws about 1.4GB of RAM (out of 4) before it crashes, so if you have plenty of RAM this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Hope this helps!

Make a really long fuse, and when I say "really long" I mean really long, I don't know how long that is, but I'd say once you can't see the TNT anymore(on medium rendering distance), make the fuse two times longer. I find that the more space between you and the TNT, the better.
