If you are making a thread for your texture pack, whether WIP or released, it must have at least one screenshot. If it doesn't, it will be locked. Also, do not accuse others of stealing your work without proof. Do not troll, flame, or spam in simple texture pack threads. If you don't like them, don't post. You will be warned otherwise.

Title Formatting

Please title your threads accordingly.

A general method of formatting threads will help keep this sub-forum organized. Here is how you should name your threads:

[Resolution][Minecraft Version] Name (Misc)

*Resolution is the resolution of the textures; 16x, 32x, etc.
*Minecraft Version is the version that the texture pack supports.
*Name is the name of the texture pack. If your texture pack has version numbers of its own, it goes here following the name.
*Misc is anything like WIP, Simple, or title comments.

Credits to Koolwitak and The_Fool76 for suggesting tag formats.

Examples:

[16x][1.3] Sunshine Valley (WIP)(Simple)

[32x][1.3] Creeper pack (Now with better grass!)

[32x, 64x][1.3, 1.2] Picasso's Packs (2 Packs!)

[Req] 128x Notch Mobs

[Help] Why can't I see through my glass?

If you have any questions about how you should name your thread, please post here!

FAQ

[*:3q3unw13] How do I install a texture pack?
See the installing section of Minecrap's tutorial.
[*:3q3unw13] How do I install an HD texture pack?
See the installind HD section of Minecrap's tutorial.
[*:3q3unw13]Where is the default texture pack?
It is inside minecraft.jar, you can extract it yourself, or download it here, courtesy of The_Fool76.
[*:3q3unw13]Why is everything white? I can't see through glass or leaves or doors!
You're using an editor that doesn't support transparency. I recommend GIMP, Paint.Net, or Photoshop.
[*:3q3unw13]Why won't my texture pack work with the Mods and Texture Packs menu?
You didn't use the right file format or didn't put it in the zip correctly. This section of Minecrap's tutorial tells you how to format it properly.
    [*:3q3unw13]Why won't my custom water/lava/fire/portal textures work?
The animated textures are actually hardcoded into the game. In order to change them, even for a 16x texture pack, you have to use the HD Texture Patcher, and make some custom images.
[*:3q3unw13]I would like to make some good screenshots that demonstrate all of the textures of my pack, what could I use?

Umm, for my SMP's Updated Texture Pack, the old title is

SMP's Texture Pack [Updated 1.3_01] [New Items.PNG]

So should I format it to

[32x] SMP's Texture Pack [Fan Updated + New Items] [1.3_01]

Or

[32x] SMP's Texture Pack Fan Updated + New Items [1.3_01]

It's your choice, so long as you include the required tags. You don't necessarily have to put "Fan Updated" unless you want to, as SMP pretty much gave his consent for you to continue it.

I'm also working on a little FAQ to here too.

He did post in my thread saying "Keep on 'truckin" so I'll assume that I'm allowed to continued.

Cheers! Thanks alot for clarifying this.

Hrm, any reason you want to put the version at the END?
Its gonna mess up the sorting if you do that you know.

See my thread for more information:

Sorry, wasn't trying to advertise, I just picked some threads I saw for examples.
Here's some cookies, you may take one.

Hmm, your formatting is better; I didn't see your thread before. Mind if I steal your examples?

Sorry for any confusion, people, we'll use The_Fool76's suggested title format.

I don't mind in the least. I was just waiting to see who we got for this section out of the new mods before PMing you with the suggestion. Looks like you beat me to the punch :D

Great to see some real active moderating going on here BTW. :D

Nice job Cyborg, it looks great. I'm glad people will finally start using this.

Do you think there's any way I could get some credit for sending you the format?

EDIT: Why don't you pin/stick this? Do you not have the power to pin/stick topics?

Sectional moderators don't have the ability to sticky threads, only global moderators and above do.

EDIT: And it just got stickied, thanks Basic!

That's odd... Sticking topics can't really cause much damage. G-mods could always unstick them anyway.

lol, I wanted to suggest this but I was too lazy.. Great thing it got put in! Also, could the Mapping/Modding section be a little split up all together? Like texture packs be not a sub-forum and then have a separate "Modding" Section and then maybe keep a "Mapping" section?
(if this isn't the right place please move it...)

I've been losing my thread for the past 2 days after I changed my format to this standard. XD

Certainly will take some time getting used to, but is a grand idea overall.

Is it possible to make it so someone who wants to upload a pack, must present a screenshot as a requirement in their opening post? It's just a suggestion.

There should be TWO things required to post a new texture pack topic: A screenshot and a download link

i wouldnt agree with the download link thing. What if you want to make a WIP thread and want to show your progress as you make it? And i love the screenshot idea but what about for things that arent exactly packs like my making of thread?

Yeah..screens are a good idea but a dl link isn't needed until they feel they have enough to download to the public.

For actual WIP packs, ^this.
But some people just want to post requests, or have ideas of what to do but are just trying to see what other people think before starting.

My post doesn't have a dl link yet. :D

The reason why people post with no ss or dl link is because it's like patenting your ideas. They want to claim dibs before other people think of it. The problem is, it's false advertising. So make it so they need a ss before claiming dibs.

@ Matonk, I think the [req] tag will sort that out. But anyone uploading a pack should back it up with a screenshot as proof that they are working on it.
