I have already changed the crash materials ready for implementation in the next update. The smoke was planned for the long run, enabled whenever you use the E-key to ascend, together with light emitting effects, like as if there was actual fire. :|:

Cool I hope to see many more updates. Maybe something like cow carts. At the back you there are two chest and a place to sit and you can then travel with your cow cart.

The receipt for the wheel.

Then you need to right click with your cart on a cow and tadaaa you get a cow-cart.

A little piece of help: it's caused by mod_Rope.class, which is present in both modes and its overwrite causes the other mod to crash.

Hey, looks cool. Feel free to use the rope sprite from my mods, someone made it for me, I'm sure they won't mind. Got a few suggestions too:

Maybe always have it slowly descend and hold space to make it rise, so you don't need any special keys.
Turn your rope recipe sideways to get past that conflict.
Prefix all your class names with something to reduce conflicts (e.g. all my mod_ files are mod_SdkWhatever and all my classes are SdkWhatever).
Might be simpler to make it work like the powered minecart, right click with a piece of coal which adds X to the "fuel" variable. The variable is decremented whenever the player is ascending, but let them turn for free.

Just some suggestions though, it's your mod. If you can't tell, I like to try to keep everything consistent with how minecraft always works.

Thanks for letting me use the rope! I will turn it sideways, to prevent those issues. :S

At first, in version 0.01, I actually had the spacebar-slowly descend mechanism to control the balloon. This was however not the way the suggestion on the forum I used as a reference to what it was ultimately going to be said it would be controlled like. I like it to be floating as long as you have fuel, that's more convenient.

And I don't think the powered minecraft system for fuel is not a good idea for the hot air balloons, because they need A LOT OF COAL. Really, right now, it will fly 7.5 seconds on one coal. That's why the auto-fuel method is a better idea.

It's compatible with all mods that are ModLoader compatible.
The only incompatibility known right now is with DJoslin's rope mod.

Sorry if this double posts, I'm not sure if my first try worked.

Two things:
The fuel first. I like the idea of needing fuel but I think it would be better if the fuel made just made you go faster. The propelled balloon should be able to move in all directions at a really slow speed but have it go up to full speed when you have fuel. Here is my reason...with the fuel being automatically taken out as you fly it will be a little hard to keep track of just how much you need for your trip. You would be screwed if you ran out of fuel over an area unfit for landing. It would be awesome if you could steer it just enough to land in a safe spot, or make it to dry land if you were over water.


The second thing is the bow. You have your basic balloon, then you add the propellers to it. What if you added other things, like a bow?
You would have to change the controls so that you could shoot (I would not mind, I have already jumped out of the balloon a few times already). I think being able to add news parts onto the balloon would a new dimension to it.

Edit: I just looked at the "other balloon mod" and it seems to shoot arrows. I guess. I just read the first post and it said something about shooting arrows. Your mod really is much more mine-crafty.


Also, I like the idea of using the space bar to keep afloat.

bumping because i really like this simple balloon, but i would also really like compatibility with djoslin's rope mod :tnt:

Great idea! I was already thinking of that. A turret of some sort. :)

I downloaded a different balloon style thing, the 'airship' I believe. I remembered looking at this one, and thought I would download this one as well. I much prefer this one, as it actually sits on the ground, unlike the other one, which floats in mid-air. This was the perfect end to my airport, and I can see me using it much more over the airship..

Was easy to download, and worked straight away, without any problems. Thank You So Much! :SSSS: :SSSS:

Yeah! I read that! Dang it. I was thinking of changing it to Q, or the Space Bar. Not really sure which one yet. I'm planning on creating a properties file for people to customize anyway, so they can pick their own controls and settings, but that's not what I'm focusing right now.

I'm still really busy finding out how to get lines shown via the chatline. Oh crap! I just got an amazing brainwave! The Bed uses a chatline in singleplayer! I might have to look in to that. More updates reaaaally soon! :(
