Hot Air Balloons isn't like any airship mod already around. No, Hot Air Balloons is a compact, easy to handle air-transportation-vehicle, that will take you to your destinations in style, and will help you discover your world in no-time.
Note to everyone: Everyone knows there is an airship mod made by Pchan3. I like his too, and I do like mine as well. If you like his better, then use his, but don't leave any more posts about it, please. This is the first mod I made as some sort of test project, and I didn't expect it to get -so- popular. I didn't mean to copy Pchan, nor did I try to take his fame. I just wanted to make a mod. I didn't steal anyone's code. The arrow shooting, fuel and the airship itself were all made from suggestions on the forum. Blame them for it being in Pchan's. I simply did what was requested. Also, Pchan's is not SMP supported.

About:
There are two balloons, a non-propelled, and a propelled one.
The non-propelled balloon drifts along with the north-pointing wind. It should use less fuel, but it can, as said before, only travel to the north.
The propelled balloon, along with the need of 2 iron ingots, it also requires a lot more coal and water than the non-propelled balloon, making it more expensive to use.

Crafting Recipes:
How to make the basic balloon:
You need:
- 20 leather
- 6 string
- 5 wood
- 8 cobblestone
First, we need to make the balloon itself out of leather sheets, like this:
NOTE: This is NOT a new block; It's a storage unit.
Reverse-crafting is possible, but you only get 3 back.
Arrange your sheets in a "plus" shape to get a leather balloon.
NOTE: This is NOT a new block either.
Before we go any further, we need rope. String just isn't strong enough.
Now, arrange the boat, furnace, rope, and balloon like this:
NOTE: Yes, that is a BOAT.
Boat: Used as the basket.
Rope: Holds it together.
Furnace: Makes hot air.
Balloon: Provides lift.
How to make the propelled balloon:
You need:
- 20 leather
- 6 string
- 5 wood
- 8 cobblestone
- 2 iron
Using the steps for the basic balloon, you should now have a balloon.
Next, using a bit of iron, you can add a propeller.
Horray! now you can control direction!
How to use the basic balloon
- Right-click to get inside.
- The balloon will fly north. (The direction of the "wind".)
- Use SPACE to ascend and C to descend.
- Right-click to jump outside.
How to use the propelled balloon
- Right-click to get inside.
- The balloon's direction can be controlled using standard WASD. (Like a boat)
- Use SPACE to ascend and C to descend.
- Right-click to jump outside.
Fuel
Non-propelled balloon:
- Once stepping inside, the balloon checks the player's inventory.
- It gives itself 1 coal and 1 bucket of water if it can be found. (You keep the bucket.)
- Every 8 minutes, it needs another bucket of water. Another check is made.
- Every 40 seconds, it needs another lump of coal. Another check is made.
- If the balloon runs out of either of these, it will slowly descend.
Propelled balloon:
- Once stepping inside, the balloon checks the player's inventory.
- It gives itself 1 coal and 1 bucket of water if it can be found. (You keep the bucket.)
- Every 2 minutes, it needs another bucket of water. Another check is made.
- Every 15 seconds, it needs another lump of coal. Another check is made.
- If the balloon runs out of either of these, it will slowly descend.
Crashing the balloon
The balloon will break into half its basic components if it hits anything with a decent speed (4 cobblestone, 10 leather, 3 planks, 3 string)
Other info
- If there is no driver, the balloon will slowly descend.
- The balloon's average speed, (going east or west) is about 2/3 of its top speed.
- While going north (with the wind), it's at its top speed.
- While going south (against the wind), the top speed is 1/2 of its actual top speed.
- The balloon is 4 blocks high.
- The Properties file is found in the .minecraft/ directory

What we are looking for is actual sturdy rope, capable of holding a balloon together. My 'rope' is basically a color-corrected stick, I know, however I still don't think your picture looks more like rope, sorry.
