While 1.7 proves to be a stellar update, no update is perfect and is bound to have at least one thing that irks you. For me, the one thing that I will probably never get over is the fact that they changed the ocean floor to all gravel.
Probably that they added witches as regular spawn without nerfing their drops, other than that I had a difficult time thinking of something, for once. lol
Pufferfish...it's a useless source of food giving you more damage besides making it into potions that can let you breathe in water <---- which gives me another idea, who would want to go underwater and stay all the way at the bottom for a long time?
EDIT: I also think clownfish is useless too. Salmon was a good add though.
I miss the continents separated by oceans. The oceans in 1.6 and earlier were way too large but I was hoping Mojang would merely reduce the size, instead of literally removing them. And I agree about the gravel ocean floor, that's an unfortunate change. These changes sure make the Potion of water breathing useful don't they?

You are sooo right!
Anyways, I dislike the fact that it's already being pre-released when things still need work.
The endless tunnel systems underground. PLEASE give me an option to NOT have them generated in my world.
(I like caves/dungeons ect, Just I like to eat swiss cheese not run around in it.
This existed since Beta 1.8. It's not exactly a new thing. (EDIT: derp, probably misread that.)
Anyway, call me crazy but I dislike the new biome grouping/temperature system. It only fixes the most egregious of the transitions, meaning that the rest are still there and just as sucky as they were before. However, it also introduced the problem of coming across huge swathes of forests with the occasional EH or plain. Seems to me like it did more harm than good.
Holy crap. The 1.7.1 snapshot has a massive black border around everything you mouse over. Super ugly. Hope that's temproary/a bug (as I havent seen the patchnotes)

Liked or appreciated my post? Hit that up-arrow button over there! (v^.^)v
The way biome colors are mapped for grass and leaves. Or rather are NOT mapped for some of the new biomes. Can we please have some consistency on the way things work?

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.

I noticed that, I'm not sure it's a feature, or why the fix for 1.7 has made such a big difference. It really stands out though. Anyway, I'm hoping that'll be one thing fixed for the proper release on Friday, I'm sure it can't have gone unreported.
One thing I don't like? Well, that'd be the typical unfinished feeling all Minecraft updates have. I don't have to say more, you all know what I'm talking about...

I dislike the giant contiguous landmasses as well. I understand the frustration of HUGE oceans. I was hoping smaller oceans meant "continents separated by less water", not "one giant landmass with really large lakes".
I'm very disappointed in the new "oceans". There's no longer any distinct continents, when the new biome generation could have added variety between them had they been kept. I'll grant that the previous size was excessive, especially in light of their lack of content, but their new size is ridiculously small.
They changed many things to the worse with this update... what's there to like?
I enjoyed all previous updates, but I can't get myself to like 1.7... it's just the entire opposite of what I've expected from the "biome update".
i do agree, that a few things were changed for worse, such as removing roses, changing clay and sand ocean floors to pure gravel, and a bit of lack of balance, but you really can't say it was all bad. We got stained glass, more interesting fishing, old boat controls, nice looking biomes, nice flowers, improved maps etc. and as for complete opposite, they added biomes. What else did you expect from a biome update?
As for the OP's question, changing the sea beds, so we can't find as much clay.
