Remote IO let's the player think outside the blocks; no longer are you limited to only six sides. The concept is simple... the possibilities endless.
The Remote IO's can be linked to any block with an inventory... imagine this: four separate quarries all outputting into a unique Remote IO linked to a single chest. Gone are the days of pipes! You are also able to link the Remote IO to machines and even use them with fluids!

What are the heaters for? I don't want to watch the video, so please finish documenting the mod please. BTW great mod, it should be in FTB. You might want to make it slightly more balanced though because you could completely evade using pipes and automate using this once you've got hold of 3 ender pearls (and all the other materials.)

Balance will definitely be worked on. This is just the first iteration.
The heather supplies heat to an adjacent vanilla furnace if surrounded by at least two lava source blocks.
it looks really cool, but how will this block work with machines that have different kinds of inputs and outputs? will you be able to specify in what slot what item goes, or will it just go through all the items and slots in order?
Nice mod, heater block does not make too much sense to me tho. I was under the impression You craft it, place it below a furnace and thats it - no need for lava source. How wrong i was
* Added reservoir block. Surround with two or more water source blocks to generate 1/4 bucket of water four times a second. Can be pumped out as normal.
* Added support for a couple Buildcraft things, mainly actions, triggers, and power.
Reservoir recipe is the same as the heater, but with a piece of glass instead of the furnace, and a water bucket instead of the lava bucket

Messing around a bit more with this mod and the only criticism I could have is that it needs to be a little more selective of inventory slots in machines.
I have my ethanol production running through IO blocks but if there's not enough room in the main import slot of a machine it starts inserting into secondary slots that wouldn't be filled with those items if the pipes were connected directly.
Also if there's nothing to pull from export slots it starts pulling from whatever inventory is available.
Basically every inventory slot is available to whatever is connected.

Expected behavior. As a part of the balancing, you'll have to work a bit harder to make the block respect things like that. Unfortunately, that isn't in quite yet.
Idea(s):
1. While holding the Wrench you can see sparkle particles to see links from the IO as well as they scroll to the direction the things are going.
A few criticism(s):
1. Recipes are way too easy.
2. You should be able to pick the side it inputs into not just select the block.
3. The heater is just ridiculously good, It should be toggle-able.
Things that I feel are perfect:
1. Wrench IO recipe is perfect, Completely balanced.
2. The Reservoir is perfect, Nothing is wrong with this.
Off topic but, How you doin Dmillerw long time no speak.
NICE! By the way, what was that teaser pic of EDX you tweeted? It looked like the same mechanics as the Heater and Resevoir, but I guess it's different?
Wasn't a teaser of EDX, was showing off the new rendering for the Heather/Reservoir

I've always wanted to do that.
Great mod!

Even now, I personally think it is. It doesn't handle energy transfer yet, but it does work cross dimensionally
I do agree that the recipes could be harder, the Linker at least since you can keep re-using it.

No, far from it. I've got a release all ready to go, just having some issues with my build server.
