The Redmurk Mystery

Posted Image

Current version seems to work fine with Minecraft 1.1 from what I can see. If you spot anything; please let me know.

Setting:

You have arrived at the remote port town of Redmurk, surprisingly there appears to be no one around and further exploration reveals the town to be empty. A look around the nearby homes shows signs of struggle yet there are no signs of battle or disaster.

Perhaps you should investigate?

This is my first crack at an adventure map, so any criticism is appreciated.

You can download it here

Please post any feedback as well as your final score after completion.

Installation:

Unzip the files and place the Redmurk folder into \.minecraft\saves

Rules:

1. Do not break any block other than sand, clay or gravel
unless otherwise directed.

2. You may use any items found in chests for crafting, but
please do not use items from other sources (monster drops
are acceptable but crafting TNT would be cheating).

3. Collect diamonds to increase your score. You may use any
you find to craft diamond weapons, tools or armour if you run
into trouble, but this will decrease your final score.

4. This map is designed to be played on normal or above, but
you do not have to fight monsters if you do not want to.

5. Bonus rule: No crafting pressure plates or switches. Had to add
this thanks to UberHaxorNova, cheers for pointing out that flaw guys.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Videos:

Edit: List was getting a little long so I just made a youtube account and added all I could see to Favourites:

Huge thanks to all who made these videos!
(If you would like a video I don't know about added to the list or would like me to take your video off it please send me a PM and I'll be happy to do so).

EDIT EDIT:Im stuck again actually. The room with the books and 3 doors. Found the switch that did the thing (trying not to spoil) and i got the stuff in the place. Is that place supposed to lead me anywhere or is that just a bonus? Either way, im lost

Y'know, this map looks very interesting. I'll download tomorrow, and I might do a Let's Play of it.

That's a bonus. I may have to make it more clear in a small update, but for the moment there is a way to open one of those doors.

Haha, thank you. It took about 5-6 weeks to put the map together just working on it in my spare time. There was a small delay when I moved everything to a new map after the last update (on the old map a chunk near one of the large columns kept randomly swapping with a nearby chunk of empty field), but I admit some time was saved by cloning a column and arch or two. Also the 250x250 square was flattened out in MCEdit because I'm not a masochist.

You, sir, are a legend.

Possibly THE best Adventure map i've played, very original ideas.
Your building skills are insane!
Very well done.

AMAZING map, me and a few friends made a let's play of it. That being said; we got lost, cheated a touch, and ultimately gave up :>

That was amazing, right up until the end.

I don't want this to be a spoiler, but what happened at the end? I don't understand it. :<

First impression: This looks utterly rubbish.

As soon as I get to the second stage of the adventure. I was wowed by it. It was an amazing map.

I ended up with 24  :P.

I just finished your map........

That map, without a doubt, was EASILY the BEST custom map I've EVER played. Great story, amazing building skills... Simply amazing. Subtle on the hints, too. I finished with 27 :Skeleton:. At first I was like "lolwut it's just a town..." but then I put my Zelda thinking cap on.
In summation:  :cobblestone:

This is amazing just the amount of detail you put into everything is fantastic. I played the entire thing so far with a gaping jaw that wouldn't close! I was in AWW! I love all the colored cloth and the story line is great! All the temples (haven't finished yet stuck on the cactus room) its amazing is all i have to say! thank you so much for putting so much time into this
