How do you get Minecart tracks to change direction with a lever and redstone dust? I can't seem to figure it out...  :o

The track has to be aligned in a very specific way

Chest: Lever
Iron bar: Rail
Gold bar: Rail the switches

It has to be exactly like this to work

It possible.. I did tried that :)

But the wiring has to be underground. The only way to transfer Redstone signal directly up is to use a Redstone torch.

Here is an example of doing that(side-view):
:Iron:  :Iron:  :Iron:  :Iron:  :Pig:  :Iron:  :Iron:  :Iron:  :Iron:  []  :|:  []
:Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:
:Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :--+:  :Green:  :Red:  :Red:  :Red:  :Red:  :Red: :Grey:
:Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey:  :Grey: :Grey:

:|: = Intersection
:--+:  :Green: = A block with a Redstone torch on the side
:|: = Lever
:Red: = Redstone dust

But I don't think that the track will move like you want them to though.. (The intersection will always be a turn)

that'll change the corner. I'll have a little play around and see what i come up with.
If anyone can help me out with my problem, that'd be great.
i want to control a intersection remotely. so if the lever is on, the track is 1 way, if the lever is off, the track is the other.
the problem is, i want this to be done from 2 different points, independant from the other.

I have 3 sections, the start, my mine, and another towards my base.

  [] []  []  :Iron:  []  []
  [] []  []  :Iron:  []  []
:DORE:  :Iron:  :Iron:  :D  :Iron:  :Iron:  :o
:Iron: =track
:DORE: = mine
:brick: =base

i want a lever at the start, and a lever at the mine.i do't think it's possible, but if anyone knows for sure, can you let me know.
thanks

Household lights have a mechanical solution for this.

That is completely possible for redstone too, though.

You need a XOR gate.

this will make it so when a lever is flipped, the track toggles.

regardless of what position it was before.

Your base and your mine (or at least the switches and corner) have to be within ~200 blocks of each other, though.  Otherwise they might get unloaded.
