NOTE: Before posting, PLEASE read the FAQ.

It appears there is a command that can summon ANY mob at any location in 1.7.2.

How to use (from /help):
/summon <EntityName> [x] [y] [z] [dataTag]

This looks like not only can you spawn mobs WITH COMMAND BLOCKS, you can choose where they spawn and add data tags!

Note: <EntityName> is what the mob's SaveGame ID is, or it's ID when viewing with NBTExplorer. You can look it up on the wiki or press tab when at the Entity name part. Please note that the EntityName HAS to be matched EXACTLY.

Wiki with ALL data tags. With it I made an invincible cow Posted Image.
http://www.minecraft...ki/Chunk_format

UPDATE:

Here's some info on how to use data tags with this.
Example:

/summon Cow ~0 ~0 ~0 {Invulnerable:1}

Makes an invincible cow.

The data tag is in the squiggly brackets followed immediately by a colon and after that, either something in speech marks ("") known as a "String" in Java and for other numbers, same but with no speech marks.
HOW TO MAKE STACKED MOBS WITH THIS:

Example of this:

/summon Cow ~ ~ ~ {Riding:{id:"Giant"}}

Makes a cow riding a giant! Maybe you can change the attributes of mobs with this too.

Also, consider me a /summon master.

SUMMON DATA TAG HELP:

A float tag and a double tag are basically decimals. These are used in things like Fireball summoning.

/summon Fireball ~ ~ ~ {direction:[0.0,0.0,0.0]}

The 0.0 numbers are floats or doubles in Java, hence why I use the terminology.

PS. LOVING the new Update.

Note: This has gradually grown over some time, so the first page's posts won't make sense.

Sounds awesome, but not really sure what dataTag refers to either.

I'd assume that the datatag's use would be for mob-riding, and/or things like charged creepers.

However, I wouldn't know how to use it at all, so it'd be all guess-work.

Yeah, but if you leave the data tag slot empty it returns an error saying that it needs a data tag.

As in, when it's 0? As not entering any value for it is fine.

It could be the usage of it simply hasn't been fully implemented. But, like everyone here, I'm struggling to get it to do anything, so I'll wait 'n' see what people figure out+put on the wiki later.

I don't know how you would do that... Yet. There may be a tag somewhere, I will have a look at a stacked mob's NBT later and see what I can suss out. I can't even figure out how to do multiple tags yet.

Edit: It appears it's just the mob it's riding's NBT in a compound tag called "Riding". Not sure how you'd go about adding it in with /summon. I'm sure Sethbling will figure it out though. Maybe.

Edit 2: It is possible, Sethbling demonstrated it in his review of 13w36a. Also on OP.

You can summon stacked entity, but be careful: command block accept only 256 characters.
This mean you can't customize mob as you want.

They *seem* to accept more than 256 when it comes to these tags specifically - as the example Jeb gave was way over the 256 cap

Apparently the command in the screenshot Jeb posted is now out-dated.

The previous (and now incorrect) command was:

/give @p 272 1 0 {display:{Name:"Edward";Lore:["Edward made this.";"It's not your fault."]};ench:[0:{id:16;lvl:2}]}

And now, (I think) it's supposed to look like this:

/give @p 272 1 0 {display:{Name:"Edward",Lore:["Edward made this.","It's not your fault."]},ench:[{id:16;lvl:2}]}

Yeah I brought this up elsewhere, the main part that's now incorrect is the use of semi-colons, now changed to commas

It's JSON data.  Same format that the .mcmeta files use.
Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
