To figure out what the new biomes might be, I used Jeb's images from https://mojang.com/2...nerator-update/ . Let me know if you spot errors. Direct imgur link (Version 3): http://imgur.com/gallery/tLR7ldx/new

Well, no, but it was the first thing to come to mind.

I do hope we get savannahs back.  Big, open plains with yellowed grass and the occasional large oak tree.  Marshlands would be pretty neat too.  As for the other forest thing... maybe woodlands or mixed forests?

We never really had savannas.  Real savannas have different types of trees.  Biomes O' Plenty does a good job emulating savannas.

I'm not British. I think it might be spelled with a U even in British, making me wrong either way. But I fixed it! Version 3!

I count 7 new biomes, including the Deep Oceans, plus 9 new variations added to current biomes, which for my money will make them as varied and fresh as if they were new biomes.

I looked all over for new elements added to the Forest, Frozen Ocean, and Mushroom Biomes, but no luck so far.

Minor chance I missed something else, even smaller chance I made an error, but both are possible.

And don't forget...surely some of these biomes will have new animals, plants, and generated structures?

Not all of them.

I suppose they could make Acacia or Baobab trees, but I remember Mojang being somewhat resistant to the idea of more kinds of trees because of the need for more wood colors.

From another thread, the list of confirmed ones are:
Savannah
A non-snowy variation of Taiga
An extreme snowy biome
Better snow plains
Mesa
Birch Forest
Redwood Forest
Black Forest

The trouble is, which of these are variants/sub-biomes and which are new biomes altogether?  My thoughts are:
- Savannah is probably its own biome (likely B, I think).
- The taiga variation is probably just a variation, obviously.
- Mesa might either be a variant of disco mountains or desert, or perhaps that's the official name for disco mountains.
- Birch forest might be a variant of normal forests, or even a wooded sub-biome of plains.  It could also be its own biome (F?).
- Redwood forest is likely its own separate biome that appears near taiga.
- Black forest is probably its own biome, but it's a bit hard to place.  My guess is it'll be moderately rare based on the description (as it will be a difficult biome to tame).  The Black Forest in real life is very mountainous, but I doubt it's based on the real thing.  Maybe C?

I agree with A beeing Disco Mountains and D beeing Savannas, but I think F is the Redwood Forest and E the Forest variants. I also noticed that F is surrounded by Taiga.
