I'm just afraid that people in Hard mode are gonna whine because it does 9 HEARTS OF DAMAGE. The player without armor, has 10 hearts. And with the burning effect, it's an insta kill. Seems a little hard there. Well, then again, it is hard mode...
NO, you mistook it The player has 10 hearts, but each heart is consisted of 2 half hearts, so officially a player has 20 hearts, meaning that without armor, it takes 3 hits to kill the player. Also, if the player is in the nether, doesn't that mean that they are in a level that they already have good armor?
I simulated this situation by spraying 4 normal spiders with strength 2 potions and fire resistance potions, then fighting while constantly setting myself on fire, having full iron armor and an iron sword. Just realized how OP the damage part was. Welp, time to edit...
Bad idea.
1. How do you know that Nether is supposed to be the hell for Minecraft? I mean, I know that hell is a place full of flames and monsters, but I think you shouldn't say to the Mojang team that they haven't made Nether as hostile as a hell should be.
2. If you wan't new mobs added to the nether then they should be something new. The wither skeleton and magma cube are already based on mobs from the overworld. A Nether spider would be too much. If my friend would go into the nether for the first time I would like him to think ''Wow, this place is full of so many weird monsters'', not ''Oh so this is like the Nether version of slime..''
Well yes, I supposed some of that is right, but I just wanted the Nether to be slightly more challenging, being the realm of fire and all... also, I suddenly assume you only read the first part of the thread, because I stated that I made the new mob a spider because I wanted to make bane of arthropods more useful. But well, I guess you made a pretty decent post with good reasons to disagree with this, and I completely respect your opinion.
Total Support, the overpowered factor is another contributing factor into why you should prepare before going into the Nether. Not just charge in with a diamond sword in hand.
PS: I loved it so much I can make a mod for it if you like?
I guess you're pretty good at programming It would be an absolute honor to have a mod created based on my suggestion! You can take your time, and when you're finished, create a thread containing the mod and then send me the link with installation instructions. I will display the link on my thread and make sure to give you credit(I bursted out in joy after reading your message, my suggestion is finally getting recognized ).

Protip: When in the Nether hit F3 the biome is called HELL :l

I couldn't think of a good demoman quote that isn't right for this type of forum

I support, but I have one suggestion: Instead of dropping normal spider eyes, it drops fermented spider eyes.
Magma cream is a potion ingredient. It is dropped by magma cubes, but also can be crafted using a slime ball and blaze powder. Fermented spider eyes is a potion ingredient. It is crafted using sugar and a spider eye, and it can be dropped by... wow. I'm considering this idea.
Honestly, how do SPIDERS have anything to do with JUMP BOOSTS?
Same with spider legs, nothing to do with jump boosts.
No support.
Well, I got the inspiration of how spiders jump often when making an attacking blow, while they also climb walls, allowing them to go HIGHER. Also, I made it so that the Nether Spider jumps pretty high, so relating to that, Nether spider legs sort of make sense as a jump boost potion...
I don't get it... I think I wrote it like that. Even if, "half hearts" are called hit points, I'm not sure how many people will recognize it... 1 hit point = half a heart 1 heart = 2 hit points Does that make it easier to absorb?

No support. I don't understand why you don't support it, please add more detail. With the jump boost thing, the nether spiders will be able to jump 3 blocks high, so yes they DO have something to do with jump boosts.

I like this idea and I think it'll make the Nether more dangerous and better. I'm not sure if this has already crossed your mind, having Nether Spider Jockeys? I think that'll be a nice addition.

Hey i support this idea and also you can attempt to make it yourself with Mcreator a mod making program and its easy to use (if u get confused theres lots of youtube guides find link for Mcreator: http://mcreator.pylo.si/
For its setup you need to use Mcp which u find here http://mcp.ocean-labs.de/page.php?4 just a suggestion you don't need any coding knowledge

Climbing is different from jumping.
Meh, spiders don't really fit the nether in my opinion, so still no support.

Ooh, thank you, but one of the visitors stated that he liked this post so much that he's making a mod for it if I request it, in which I did... maybe he's using this program. Anyhow thank you for telling me about this, I might make a mod for this thread later
