http://oi47.tinypic.com/n33s51.jpg
and
http://oi48.tinypic.com/9u6i45.jpg
second one shows RAM usage and i circled the lack of a visable hand or pick, note the action bar at the bottom, and the lack of outline for map or arrows...?

thanks, hope this helps!!!

Great news, sorta... I used MultiMC to generate an error report.

in fact, using multi MC i can launch with JUST forge ###...582 and this report loads
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5617921/
toss in your detector and i get this
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5617914/

problem was this : java.lang.SecurityException: Invalid signature file digest for Manifest main attributes
deleted manifest file in meta and it loads... until it crashes
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5617930/

I GOT AN ERROR REPORT THOUGH!  here is the java report
http://pastebin.com/GsJFmccd

...god i hope this helps...  im a newb at code and a failure at debugging  :(

Following on from n0ttsweet;

my F3 shows very little memory usage, around 300 MB, while task manager shows Java at 700 MB

yet my task manager shows that Java was taking up 4GB at the time it crashed!?! No wonder my system had a spazzy haha

Hello
thanks all for your help
this morning i spent 3 hours investigating the issue.
Here is what i discovered:
- there is a bug in my code in the management of the textures, it can introduce memory issue and lag in the display => I will solve it in a next update
- there is a problem with Mineforge, I think it is the source of the memory issues:
1.
I ran minecraft with mineforge without any mod and without moving the player. After 10 minutes, the memory is around 850 Mo and staying at this value.

2.
I created a dummy mod with only the onTickInGame method. The mod is doing nothing except being called.
I ran minecraft + mineforge + my dummy mod and without moving the player. After 10 minutes, the memory is over 1100 Mo and still increasing.

It would be great if somebody else could do the same test to confirm my theory.

I too am more than willing to test but like n0ttsweet need a complete set of instructions.

I am running Forge 7.7.0.586, OptiFine_1.5.0_HD_U_A4 and Rei's Minimap 3.3_02 without any memory issues.  I add EllianDetector, and game crashes within 20 minutes.

Thanks for your hard work!

Dont know if this has anything to do with the memory leak but my log says:

[SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] Detected an attempt by a mod mod_EllianDetector to perform game activity during mod construction. This is a serious programming error.

I also heard that the new lighting system in minecraft can cause some memory problems.

I love this mod so I can't wait for it to work again. :)

Woohoooo! Happy Birthday to your little one, and thanks again. I've been playing MC single player, and even with a mod that lets me use the new quartz to make tools, I'm STILL not having as much fun as I do with your mod! (Cos I can't find iron and diamonds for all my pistons and stuff :( )

thanks Lou for the support
Update done to fix the rendering issue
let me know if it solves the memory issue
I read carefully the mineforge release notes, they confirm that for them it was also a big update
It would be great if somebody can test my mod with Modloader only
have fun

Works well with Risu's ModLoader. Not tested with Forge.
I still get the lag on x1 horizontal but x2 and x4 are fine.
Thank you.

I just played for 25 minutes using Forge. It seemed to be working very well, no lag at all, but then the last few minutes got really jumpy again, so I quit... it took ages for Minecraft to shut down the internal server and then close the actual program too. Not a good sign :(

I too spoke to soon. It's considerably better but it still lags.
The longer it runs the more memory that gets tied up.

Hey Ellian...  My grandkids and me have really enjoyed your Detector in the past and I just wanted to say thanks for this cool mod...   Ok, I installed this latest 1.5 only to isolate a huge Memory leak traced directly to your latest 1.5 Detector mod running on the latest Modloader...  For isolating this big leak I used a clean install of Minecraft 1.5, the latest Modloader, with no other mods installed...  I also was using the default textures and not any of my 128\256\512 texture packages, which run super fast on this new 8 Core machine... I'm also running 16gb of ram and the Detector mod will crash Minecraft to the Desktop soon as it uses up a full 14gb of ram and it only takes about 3 minutes to leak all my ram gone...  The new Modloader does not leak with any of my other mods, ie: ReiMinimap, and Shibby's Fly, both of which are 1.5 versions...  Just thought you'd like to know and can't wait for you to get her plugged up, ha...  Keep up the good work you have a good mod here that many people really like... bob
