Where is that dislike button? Please remove this and get something called skill, this is just sad to see that players actually like having unfair advantages over others. Also, noone report this as this is true.
Look, I hang around a lot of forums and i do like to start arguments, I like to explain things to people of whom do not understand.
So, I shall explain.
This "Mod" is unlike most other "xray" mods because what it does is add an render overylay to highlight the blocks. So it is a mod. There is no hacking going on. The game has the render system it is using already built in. So yes this a mod not a hack. In essences nothing made using jar files is a hack. You might want to look up what "Hacking" is and what "hack" means. This is a well made mod that is more than useful for people like me that hate looking for ores in SP. I would also use it in MP because me having more coal or diamonds than you would give me a small advantage over you because i am have more coal or diamonds.
However the owner is working on a aimbot update(which is the stupidist decision he has made), which will add aimbot to the mod. The aimbot is obviously a hack. The least he could do is remove or stop working on the aimbot thing.

I have a question, I absolutely love this. but why does it take like 2-3 steps away from Diamond to show it on the xray, and it takes 100m away from redstone, coal, and gold ore to show quickly?

You should put the old system back. Somehow your block picker only picks out blocks that are placed in the game, but some items use the same id for blocks. Look at Thaumcraft and the aura nodes. They use the same id for a node item in creative mode and for the world. The new system cannot select such an item. Another such block that I can not find is yellorium ore from Big Reactors. I did find ore.br.block but it does not highlight yellorium ore, even though the image is the same as yellorium ore.
Also, After much anger I am finally posting to say your gui is very, very buggy. Crashed with it about 10 times. Sadly I deleted the modpack I was using it on... so the logs are gone too ._. Just uh... try moving the color picker slider a bunch or hovering over a bunch of items while having WAWLA installed. Big issues (it takes 15 min to reload the modpack I was using).

This was with forge 10.13.2.1231 and 10.13.2.1258, so i'm reasonably sure this isnt the fault of forge, as it was working on the 31 build prior to a modpack update.

This is late.... BUT the aimbot mod is not joined to the xray mod. And why would u dislike a mod just because it is unfair for multiplayer. I use this mod on the new 1.7.10 Direwolf20 pack because it takes forever to find more than 5 iron.
This is honestly my favorite version of this mod! I always have trouble finding it though because the other one that shows the blocks instead appears to be more common, but I must say I am very happy you still update this because I consider it to be the superior version Definitely bookmarking this for the future!
