@random lewt:  I actually really like the random loot, in that it gives me a good supply of food(a critical resource in most SH maps - Waking Up comes to mind in particular) and Enderp Pearls(hard to get in all the maps but Nightmare Realm).  The extra wood is also nice, considering I absolutely loathe tree farming.  In fact...

Easy, un-updated leaves that make up the floor over lava that decay when the player gets near (maybe by pulling wood blocks away with pistons), dropping the player into lava.

Sounds too complex for an application in a map. Could just go with the Black Heart trap again.

The leaves burn quicker than the other flammable materials, so really, it's not them, it's the others that are keeping the fire alive and laggin'.

The fire can cause lag, but though, the fire is not killing them, the one block that got destroyed from fire, updated all the other leaves, which then, they started to decay, some went on fire, but still decayed faster than the fire could destroy it, there's a reason why there's saplings and apples are all over the place.
