Now multithreaded! Kiss stuttering goodbye!

Ported to mcpatcher! No more waiting on Updates!
Remains compatible with mcpatcher HD and Optifine Standard/Smooth.

What this mod does:

Diamonds within a certain range and in your height region appear on your standard compass. If there are multiple, it always points to the closest one.

It will by default _not_ point to diamonds "above the ceiling" or "below the floor". If you really want to clean out an area, you have to run through it in different heights.

For performance reasons any scanning only occurs once a second.

Dungeon Finding Needle. Unlike the Diamond Scan, this will only run every 15 seconds. Also different: It checks a lot more space below and above you. The green Needle will then point you toward the coordinates of the Mob Spawner inside the dungeon. Once you are at the coordinates (but wrong height), the needle will point up or down, indicating whether the dungeon is above or below you.

Note Dungeons are so rare you might just not be in range of one.

Troubleshooting
If you're having problems, download this (windows only) and run it to see the error. If you post a problem that's related to an error without an error report, it will be ignored.

Now this is quite clever indeed.
Do we have the start of a working metal/ore detector here?
Good job. :P

This mod only overrides 1 class, TextureFXCompass. I am not aware of ANY other mod (that is being updated) using this file.

It could be set to find anything, but nothing except Diamonds and perhaps Monster Spawners is rare enough to justify it.

So it makes it not a pinpointing ore sniper, but a "it's in this general direction on your level" compass? Nice.

Good point, I guess.

I like the fact that you're using the regular compass for it, any mod that achieves cool stuff without relying on custom blocks/items is a win in my book.

This information should probably be in the OP, because telling a mod to RTFM is probably not a good idea. :iapprove:

To answer your question: 7 and 15 blocks respectively.

Make it have other ticks that seek out gold, and monster spawners too.

All is says is

Diamond within a "certain range" and in your height region appear on your standard compass. If there are multiple, it always points to the closest one.
Trust me, I read the OP.

Even one look in the zip answers that question. I believe in common sense.

Gold is common enough to not be frustrating to find. I need to come up with a halfway efficient way of scanning for Monster Spawners yet - they are so rare you literally have to loop tenthousands of blocks, and even the most powerful PCs will feel that strain. Its certainly not going to be on a "per tick" basis.

It works in SMP
