I love games like Minecraft and can sit and play them for hours on end!
I only know one game a bit like Minecraft with mining and building, yet alot harder...
<!-- m -->http://www.wurmonline.com/<!-- m --> Wurm online. Yet this has no Single player, its one big MMO game!
Suggest some games like Minecraft and Wurm online! I'm sure they can become popular  :DORE:

You need to stop living under and rock and get a functioning computer instead of using your calculator to surf the web.

I mean really, BSOD on Youtube? What the hell?

That's the first time I've heard that Notch used to work for YouTube. I don't believe you.

In terms of games like minecraft, I know that Ken Silverman's VOXLAP engine is similar to it (in fact, that's how I learned about Minecraft).

I have a friend on Wurm online and he talked about a game like Minecraft and Wurm Online, it was two words long and they both started with H. I forgot the name. Anyone got any ideas?   :(

Well, I did some research just now and heres what I managed to find. Note that I have played none of these.
Infiminer -                      The game that inpired Minecraft
Cubelands-                      This looks like a copycat of Minecraft classic
Toadwater-                      Like Wurm Online apparently
Haven and Hearth-          That game I mentioned in my last post on this topic. I thought it would have looked nicer
Darkfall online-                Its a pay to play but looks great. I know of this one by a guy on youtube called Bashur :....:
Xsyon-                             Apparently like Wurm Online
A Tale in the Desert-        Looks like it's set in Egyipt. Like Wurm Online
Stranded 1 & 2-              Pretty mutch self-explanitory. Your staranded on an island                                                   and must survive

Well thats all I found, hope this helps. Check them out and tell me what you think. Remember I haven't played any of these listed games but intend to give one or two a try at some point. I hope you enjoy and I'll keep you guys up to date with what I've found.

Youtube uses flash.

Anyway, my suggestion, change browser if you are using IE.

I guess if you're going for graphics rather than gameplay, Doom 1 and 2 are pretty close.

The lighting system before the smooth one borrowed a bit from Doom, in that east-west walls were a bit darker and north-south walls were a bit lighter (or was it the other way around?).

Also, the way each empty block had its own light level was reminiscent of how Doom's lighting was defined per "sector".

And don't forget the fact that it's a first person game with pixelated graphics, instead of using linear filtering on textures like most of you are used to in newer games.
Linear filtering is.. bad.

I have played in several tales of A Tale in the Desert and it's fun.  Plenty of things to do and see.

Toadwater is very fun to play.  It involves growing trees and crops to build a base.  Has a fun community that is involved in minecraft.
