installed the forge mod loader "minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-" in a *clean* Minecraft 1.6.2 installation as outlined in the video instructions found on Youtube, switched to profile "forge" in the Minecraft launcher and launched the game. Game doesn't start:

Can this be fixed, and if so, how please?

Btw, I wanted to register in the forgemodloader forum but I couldn't because they are asking a Minecraft related security question on registration I cannot answer. I am doing this for my 9 year old son, and he didn't understand the question and I do neither because I do not play Minecraft.

Use a later version of forge. That version is bugged.
