You could try deleting your .minecraft, go to the launcher, and download the game again.

Self-expressive people put quiz results here. Advocative people put promotions here. Classy people put their own 'unique' image, video, or quote.
I am none of those, so I wrote this.

You stop typing in all caps as if it somehow makes anyone care about what you're asking more.

Just delete your .minecraft folder, but be sure to backup your resource packs/saves/etc.

You had me at bacon tornado.

Go to the folder that says versions. Copy the folder labeled 1.6.2 and paste it in the same spot, just rename it to 1.6.2Modded (or whatever you want.) Then, go inside the 1.6.2Modded and rename both files in there to 1.6.2Modded (including the json file.) Go inside the json file with notepad (or something similar) and change
"id": "1.6.2",
to
"id": "1.6.2Modded",

Then go inside 1.6.2Modded.jar and mod like you normally would.

By the way, this topic is in the wrong spot.

How do you not have your bin folder?

The game cannot even be played without it.

Anyways, backup your current .minecraft and delete it. Re-install the game. Bam, you're done.

I should really shut up.

Read the post above you. Minecraft 1.6 made a different launcher allowing you to run different versions of minecraft. The bin doesnt exist anymore. Instead its assets and versions.
