I also said it would be possible through modding. =D
In that case, this is in the wrong forum. Anyway, the game would simply have to render each texture from a minimum of 4 .png's to be allowed to have a 512x512 texture pack. x4 each time you increase a resolution size.

512 would set my card of fire, before raping it.

My 16x Painterly has always suited me fine.

On the other hand, your mind actually is capable of subconsciously filling in the blanks and creating the illusion that the texture is of a far greater resolution than it really is. Under this circumstance it's really only possible to tell if you focus onto a specific texture instead of the whole pictures.

1024x texture pack. I am hoping to be the first to release one, and I must say: you need some serious hardware for it, but it is spectacular [at least what I have so far]. It eliminates almost completely the pixellation that occurs when standing near a block, and makes minecraft a massively impressive experience. In addition to the release of 1024x [which will be a while off, but a LOT of work has been put into it already], there will be certain modifications to the game that allow it to make more sense and have more capabilities and reason to play and explore the world of minecraft. I love Minecraft, but sorry Notch, 16bit graphics died in the 80's, and rightfully so :/
With all that said, I am going to have at least the terrain.png done within the month, with a beta test shortly thereafter.
1024x is probably the best I can run on my pc, so I may need to upgrade soon
I am going to create a new topic for this when I get home, but I have a question for anyone who reads this:
Would you prefer a super-HD reality pack, rpg pack, or something else?
Please comment with what you want, and I will take every suggestion into consideration.

1024x realism would be crazy awesome. What fps do you get with 1024x? There's one guy named Aageon have high-end PC(even higher than mine) said it's impossible to run for him. I get like 120fps on Scuttles LB RPG Realsim 512x.
My PC Specs are in my channel info if you're curious.

Aegeon makes awesome packs, and is part of the reason I decided to even make my original 256x pack back in the day.
If you get 120fps on Scuttle's 512 you will most certainly be able to get at least 50-60fps on mine. Add me and I'll let you be a beta tester when I get everything sorted out.
1024x Realism, eh? I like it. I think I will change a few things to make it like that.
I'm bad at coming up with names for these things :/
What kind of name would you imagine for a 1024x realism pack? If it helps, I can get some screenies together when I get some things sorted out with my other project

I don't mind being beta tester. How about "PC Killer Realism 1024x"? lol.
