Please Help. I made an XP grinder out of a skeleton spawner in survival 1.6.2(the only mods im using are reis minimap and optifine). The room is completely dark and nearby caves are lit and when using it i stand a few blocks away from the spawner with glass seperating me from the spawning area. The spawning area is 9 by 7 by 5 blocks. For all i know im doing everything correctly but after a couple minutes the skeletons stop spawning completely with only 10-15 or so skeletons in the area(The spot where i kill them). After i kill all of the skeletons they start spawning again.

Please tell me what i could do to change this so the skeletons continue to spawn or if something in the game changed or if there is a limit to the amount of mobs that can spawn in the area ( one of my main theories).

Any feedback would be appreciated sorry for the long post.

You have to move the spawned skellingtons away from the spawner so that they are not counted as being in the dungeon by it I believe.

That's a little too close. Maybe 10 blocks away?

The Minecraft spawner will count any mob within a 8x2x8 area around the spawner. (8 wide, 2 high, 8 long) You also have to be within a 16 block radius to spawn mobs from a spawner. It will also not spawn more mobs if there are 6 or more hostile mobs within that 8x2x8.

Hope this helped
