Has anyone had the problem where you would be able to log in no problem in the old launcher,
but when you try to login to the new launcher it says your password or username is wrong?
If so please help because i really want to be able to update!!! Am I missing something super important?
Unless i'm mistaken, you still use your mojang accout to log in, other thatn that i have triple checked
my password and username AND reset my password...

I looked more into it and apparently it isn't my username or password that's wrong, it's that it
can't contact the "authentication server"... could someone help with that?

You all have different issues.
Please make your own topic, rather posting in someone else's, it is rude.

Hi,

Your issue is with write permissions.

You may need to reinstall the locally installed files that Minecraft puts into place.

To do so, run the following command in a terminal:
rm -fr ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/{bin,texturepacks,launcher,resources,assets,libraries,versions,resourcepacks}
and re-run Minecraft.

If you still get the error, then fix your permissions.
