Because a great lot of textures are still to be done and I don't want to use other people's textures without their agreement. I'll probably ask johnsmith if he allows me to borrow his work until I've done all the textures.

In the meantime, I can mix what I've done with the classic textures. Do you want this ? (It's gonna look ugly :D)

This is what I've been looking for in a texture pack, a nice, smooth 64x pack.

I can see the JohnSmith inspiration and I approve.

Looks awesome. Can't wait for you to get it finished.
Mind you that this is coming from someone who usually only like smooth/clean texture packs. :D

You mean my textures are harshier/dirtier than what you usually like? I thought they were quite clean and smooth. :D

I have got to say, this is one of the best texture packs I have seen so far, judging from the screen-shots. I love how the it looks... Hand drawn.

Please release a beta, I want to try playing with it, since you showed most of the materials I use already. :D

Ok, I've uploaded an alpha version. :(
Install it with Xau's HD texture fix, uncheck the Custom water and Custom lava options.

Please, please, please keep this going. I like the look you have going for it.

But could you make a temporary download with what you are using now, instead of the mixed default textures?

A texture pack where someone actually used their OWN textures?!?!? Unheard of!

In all seriousness this is a wonderful texture pack and I can't wait to see the finished product.

JohnSmith actually kindly allowed me to borrow his textures, but I'd still feel disrespectful if I did this. Sorry.
If someone wants to merge the two packs and post the result here for download, feel free to do it.

I'll try my best to complete my pack quickly. The comments here gave me some good motivation, thanks! :Bacon:

my only complaint would have to be that the smooth stone looks too cobblestony, made up of lots of little rocks rather than 1 block of stone. Other than that, keep up the good work, its lovely!

I agree. I wanted to make something smooth with a a few cracks but couldn't achieve to make it not boring to look at or not have very obvious patterns, so I sticked with the 'pillow lava' style which I actually like besides the 'unrealistic' aspect. I'll probably try again when I'm done with the rest.

Meanwhile, I've done the workbench, part of the chests and put some gold on the menu screen:

I'll post a small update when I've finished the chests and furnace. I'll be quite busy next week, though.
