I know there's not been any info here for a few days, but I've been hard at work getting FlenixRoads out for 1.6.2. Thats done, and I'm close to the 1.6.2 release here too!

It's simply textures now until I've got something I'd be happy to release for 1.6.2. Check out some new models:

As well as those, I've got TONNES of general decorative blocks. I've also made a lot of the core items (things used in crafting, that have no functionality), as well as food and the ores. Ores will be generated as of the next version!
The only ore you really need to worry about if you're a big mod user is Tecmonium. I'm also adding Ruby, Copper, Tin, Titanium and Silver, but they all use the ore dictionary so you can use them from any mod!


So, finally... you probably noticed that little * next to the vending machine, yes?
And you noticed how there's so much potential there, but they're just plain colours?

Yup, I'm looking for people to have a shot at texturing them. Lets make it a contest!

There is the raw texture file. The DARK blue parts are the front. There are four parts in total. The large blue on the left is the main part, the two small blues are the sides of the hole where you'd get the drink out, and the bigger blue bit above those is the lower section.
If that's too complicated, just make a 48x128 tile and post that instead (Scaling up is fine if you want to do a higher resolution)

Rules:
- No existing products. I don't want any Cokes, Sprites etc- it could become a legal issue. I'll be making new brands for the mod, so here's your chance to come up with a name! If you can't, one of my drinks is to be called Xanath (an Energy drink), so use that.
- You agree for me to use the texture. This is obvious, you'll get a credit in a .txt file inside the releases.
- I reserve the right to not use any. If every single submission sucks, I wont use them :P

Prize:
- You get your texture in the mod
- Bragging rights.

Define "Work correctly"? There is still plenty more to be done on almost everything. Only the simple decorative and decor/storage are actually done (eg the Filing Cabinet, I don't plan much more on that other than opening animation)

Some things need a lot more work though, because I've not created my shopping GUIs yet, or set up a packet manager either. Both of those are quite important for the shopping system :P

I'm going to make the vending machine work for the next version. This version I just want to get a few more models etc out, and enough basic stuff that people can start using it to work on cities.

With working I mean like can you store things in them or animations and such   So do they work yet.
But still thats quite fast work. Ive seen slower.

Most of the things shown aren't "storage" in the way minecraft currently does it. They are a special type of storage which works a bit differently. In a nutshell, the person who places the block is the owner and can set prices etc, anyone else can buy things from them :) the code for that is nowhere near fine though.

Some blocks (eg filing cabinet and school desk) have storage. The desk will allow you to sit down too but doesn't yet, and animation isn't fine yet either. But, the storage on those two blocks do work ;)

Yeah it's 24/7 and public to anyone who registers on my forums. Have to go there to get the IP ;)

I'm in the middle of setting up Residence right now. I was gonna use Towny (Been using that since Bukkit was born) but it doesn't work for 1.6, and I think residence will be more flexible for people to choose any size of plot. Gonna get some sort of block logging plugin too.


And yes, this mod and FlenixRoads are both required. There are download links on the IP thread on my forums.

This does work for 1.6.2 right? The reason im asking is because on planet minecraft, I saw the mod for 1.5.2, and plus the folder i downloaded had the same update. Is it because you didnt update the mod when you updated it to 1.6.2? But anyways great mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I really am stunned by how much you added already...
Although I have seen allot of unfinished stuff I havent found a bug yet.

It's 1.6.2 both here and on PMC, but it was only updated on both yesterday so that might be why you're confused. But yay, butter!

yeah I'll be adding explanations into my towers ground floor and moving the spawn inside. There's not much to grasp though really, the only rules are keep the theme in cities to modern city, and roads in the city are to be 9-wide. If you want to build away from the city make sure you go at least 1000 blocks then build whatever- another city is fine but needs to be an amount of land between them :P

In my opinion you could partner with other people to make this mod better.
ex.
computers - computercraft
railroad - railcraft

and you could find more to fit your needs.

If there are villagers that are going to live a life of crime, then it would cool to see police who attack/arrest those who attack the player or other NPC's. Just a thought, I know it would be difficult to implement.
