CurseForge is now hosting Forge Mods!

As many of you may or may not know, Curse has been hosting Bukkit mods exclusively through dev.bukkit.org and we thought that it was time to open up our development community further with regards to Minecraft mods. So for the last few weeks we have been moving our old Client Mods database out of the bukkit database and into it’s own at CurseForge.

What this means is that we now have a great place to host Forge Mods at CurseForge. It works identically to dev.bukkit.org, and the whole system was built by modders from the ground up.

In addition to Forge Mods, we have another primary category dedicated to other client mods, whether they need Modloader or just need to be combined with Minecraft.jar. Plus, if your mod is compatible with Forge and Modloader you can have it listed under both by just picking both categories.

This is also an opportunity for mod authors to join our Author Rewards Program; once your mod has been successfully approved you start to earn points as people download your mods that you can redeem for PayPal cash or Amazon gift cards! You can also earn free Curse Premium if you get enough downloads per month.

We think this is a great opportunity for client mod authors who make Forge mods and other mods to get their mods out to an even greater audience. Thanks for your consideration and we hope to see our Minecraft Mod database grow by leaps and bounds in the coming months.

To get started, head to this link and start filling out your project: http://minecraft.cur...create-project/

Important Notice for Authors

Please note that when you first get your project approved, it is still considered in the ‘Planning’ stage. You will need to go into ‘Project management’, then ‘Edit project’. Once there, you can scroll all the way down to the bottom and set the ‘Development stage’ to ‘Release’. This ensures your mod will syndicate to Curse.com. Also, if you are uploading multiple versions (i.e. 1.4.7, 1.5.1, etc.) make sure to upload them from oldest to newest. You always want the newest file uploaded last as that’s the file that will show up on Curseforge.

More info can be found at our CurseForge Knowledge base here: http://www.curseforg...knowledge-base/

I think this is a good way to get mods on Minecraft while supporting the developers.

Nice! It'll make it much easier to find mods, and makes it a lot easier for mod developers, good work.

We have been hosting Bukkit mods at dev.bukkit.org but our client mod database was pretty bad. The problem was that we had that database on dev.bukkit.org and that made no sense. Why host mods like Forge/Modloader mods on a Bukkit site? So we moved that database over to CurseForge and added a newly created Forge section, which gives Curse.com a new section to find Forge mods easily on Curse.com.

I hope that makes sense, and going forward we're open to supporting more platforms like Forge for Minecraft mods.

Cheers!

Aren't they also on curse.com...  this seems slightly redundant.  Is this replacing Curse.com's mod section or an addition?

One more reason for me to make a mod! [sadly, it takes hours to make the simplest of mods]

The mods on Curse.com come from CurseForge. When you create a project on CurseForge and it's set as released, it'll syndicate to Curse.com. Without CurseForge there wouldn't be any databases on Curse.com, they work in tandem.

I get the sensation this will entice some people to make a million pointless mods or something like that for free stuff.

I've been earning points for my Minecraft mods for a few months now, I've got about 40 points so far, as I only release small mods from time-to-time, but it isn't bad :)

This would be great for people like Risugami and Eloraam who get 5 million downloads within 5.7281 femtoseconds of porting their mods to the newest version. Not so much for smaller, lesser known mods...  . It would a  much longer time to accumulate enough points to earn anything if your mods not as well known. But ill still try it :D.
