Truss Mod

(beta)

Posted Image

Truss Mod adds motors that can move blocks and frames that can form big moving constructions. It was inspired by Red Power 2 by Eloraam.

Features:
  • Motors and frames move, and all blocks render and tick while moving
  • TileEntities can be moved too
  • IC2, BC and TE power support. Look in config file for configuration
  • Tested with most mods from FTB 1.5 beta pack
  • There is a per-block and per-mod moving handler configuration
  • Both Immibis's Microblocks and ForgeMultipart are supported
  • Can move multiblock structures (if configured)
Know issues:
  • Items moving in BuildCraft pipes don't update their rendering state after being moved (items themselves appear to move correctly)
  • There are little time desynchronizations with some mods with default-hard handler
Installation instructions:
  • 1.5.2: Extract TrussCore-*.jar to coremods folder, extract TrussMod-*.jar to mods folder
  • 1.6.x, 1.7.2: Copy TrussMod-*.jar to mods folder
License:
  • Spoiler:
Download link: How to rotate motors:
  • Shift-right-click with the empty hand to change the position of the red (action) side
  • Right-click with the empty hand to change the direction that the red side is facing to
Microblocks:Posted Image
  • Anything cover-thick will prevent frames from sticking, and will actually mask the frame.
  • If you have microblocks, frame sides will only be solid if there are covers/panels on that side.
Crafting (temporary):Posted ImagePosted Image
If you have mods with multiblock structures:
  • Add corresponding block set to TrussMod.cfg
  • Example: S:alveary=1382 or S:railcraft_tank="452:0,452:1,452:2" (use block name instead of id for 1.7)

So, it's exactly the same as RedPower frames but with less features? Well done mod, but I don't see any point for it when we still have RedPower.

I plan to update it a little more frequently Posted Image
And yes, it still lacks features, but I want to put it out there regardless.

Keep in mind that Eloraam's bizarre update schedule means we probably won't see an updated version for a long time. I don't blame people for being impatient.

Anyways, good work man. I'd talk to Immibis and try to maximize compatibility, considering you'll probably get grouped together if this goes anywhere

You know, it could probably use better textures, but that's nothing that can't be fixed by the users.

First, gives an alternative, potentially with more updates than redpower (heard anything from Eloraam latelly?)
Second, variety improves competition. A lot of RP's features were inspired by other mods, just like other mods where inspired by RP. It's a win-win for the mod users.
Yes, I got a youtube channel on minecraft and games, too. This one is in spanish, though... Oh! And a server, with it's own modpack.

Very nice. Definitely gonna use this along side NumiRP. If I remember correctly, chickenbones is adding hooks to Forge for MicroBlocks, so I'd suggest waiting for that before implementing MicroBlock support.

Hahahaha. What RP2? You mean the one that never updates? I think we DO need a replacement, so we can actually, you know, use it.

Good for you!

I don't use frames, but I hope you keep at this. I'm rooting for any modder who takes on the sacred cow.

It's time to stop coddling the mods that can't keep up.

A coremod component, eh? What's that part for?
Also, you might want to talk with jakj, he's also making a similar opensource frame-type replacement mod (thread here), though with slightly different features. You could probably help each other with various issues that might come up. It will be nice to have frame-based mining machines again :P.

It makes it possible to draw any block while it's moving (actually, it allows them to not be drawn Posted Image)

If you look closely on the first screenshot, you'll see that top 4 blocks are halfway moved.
