Any chance of making the lighting smoother? when i walk from a light area into a dark area the light gradient seems to be a little jumpy.

If you copy n pasted everything it should be fine.

I've googled Minecraft, Load Bar, and stuck, and it appears this is some known issue with Mac java virtual machines, improperly setup clients/launchers or old OSX versions.

Atleast your launcher is somewhat broken, if the error messages mean anything.

Sadly that can not be the case, but I apreciate you taking your time to look it up :) I've also tried googling it.. Seems as if you are right, however ...

I run on the newest OSX (10.6.6)
The newest java version (1.6.0_22-b04-307)
and it's not on a VM, it's a real mac ;>
(Also, I've tried completely reinstalling minecraft now, still the same issue.)

Macs must just hate this epic mod for some reason.. =( Makes me hate my mac xD

Wow! This is an amazing mod. Installed no problems, and it works fine for me with no noticeable lag/fps issues. Makes exploring caves much easier when you dont have to throw down, and recollect, dozens of torches just to see if there is anything to mine... especially for quick little jogs in and out of small branches. This should be built into the game... it gives it more of a realistic feel while you explore. Great work!

Well, I have to say, this is a very nice mod. Works pretty darn well, and it's nice to see that the dropped items still cast light, and even other people carrying torches in SMP casting light as well. Makes spelunking with partners that much more interesting.

Unfortunately, I have discovered a slight bug. It seems as though, while in SMP, if you drop a torch and pick it up, the light that it was casting on the ground will remain there until either the chunk is unloaded completely from the server, or you close and restart Minecraft. Though on the one hand, this means you can temporarily light up caves without spending any torches, even if the light is technically not there according to the server.

I'm having a bug where if I switch from a torch to an empty inventory slot the light from the torch will continue to stay in the spot before I switched.

Fixed

Is it as smooth as in the demonstration video? Because it wont get any better, only jaggier if your FPS cant keep up.
And there's nothing to be done more im afraid, not with only 7 perceivable levels of "light"

Maybe you could add redstone torches and lava buckets to the list of light-emitting items? And perhaps you could make powered engine carts also emit light. Just a few ideas.

Added Redstone, Redstone Torches, Lava Buckets, Powered Minecarts (though im not sure if it applies to the item only, or the actual minecart or both)

just updated this to the altest version, i have modloader, zan's minimap and this installed and all is still working fine.

this mod is.... MORE than awesome. I love it. there is one problem though, when you place the items, e.g. a redstone torch, the light it produces returns to default. is there a way to make this mod keep the light of a lit redstone torch as what you have set it? mine is as bright as a standard torch so i cna make rooms with switches but if when you place it, that disappears.

basically, the 'brighter redstone torches' mod incorporated into this, i never checked to see if that mod is updated yet.

Thanks

John

did you edit any of the options in the configuration file? i did that and screwed it up. jsut change them to defaults or delete the config file and it should work. if you didn;'t use the config file, i have no idea. maybe your pc can't handle any moving light in java? but i'd doubt it would kill it. just slow it too much to play. lol.

The last guy with this problem did not put the modified Minecraft.class inside the /net/ folder in his jar.

That would be me, but sadly everytime I put /net/ in the jar, it wouldn't even load the game, so I had to give up for the time being.

Works awesome, but for some reason torches/glowstone/etc. doesn't emit light when I equip them. They work fine if I throw them to the ground, though.

atomicstryker, mi don't know if you missed my post about redstone torches. Can redstone torches be made to light things when placed as well?

Okay, I got this epic mod of sexyness to work.

Basically in stead of copying every thing I took the minecraft.class from the net folder and pasted it into the already existing netfolder in the jar. This worked. The reason why it worked is because the net folder provided did not come with a few things (probably for legal reasons)
