Why does everyone hate horses? I'm looking over the forums, and no one has anything nice to say about horses. The only thing that I've seen concerning horses is this stuff
1. Riding pigs is now useless (It was always pretty pointless.)
2. How horses add an unfair advantage to those who use them (so does diamond stuff, whould we be getting rid of that anytime soon?)
3. How horses being added was only because of many people suggesting it (isn't that a good thing?)
They hate because when you have one, you pretty much be OP. They think that game will be too "cheesy" if things like horses are added.
I dont think like them, I LOVE THEMMM :)))
Thanks for the feedback, I can see how it can be OP, but unlike most other aspects of minecraft pvp, learning to fight on a horse properly takes some time to learn. It will take practice to become OP
Do you code games, programs, ect.? You can't just copy and paste you idiot, you actually need to redo a lot of stuff to make it compatible. All Mojang did was implement the horse into the game, they couldn't just copy and paste, that would be the extremely stupid of them on so many levels, why you would even think that shows how stupid you are.

He probably doesn't think that their code was literally copied and pasted. The idea itself is what was copied, and their code was then figuratively copied and pasted.
Anyhow, horses upset the balance of things. I'm fine with a proper evolution of power, I suppose, but my main disagreement with horses these days is just that they're too fast for their own good. Chunk loading makes riding a horse really jittery, as opposed to other means of transportation. This is exacerbated by things like potions of swiftness, where the speed/chunk loading time becomes ridiculous.
I don't enjoy jitters in gameplay, even if something's faster. So, I guess the lesson here is to get a better SSD and CPU.
They think it's unoriginal. We have tons of unoriginal mobs like cows, chickens, sheep, pigs, skeletons, zombies, bats, so on and so forth, but adding another unoriginal mob is somehow unacceptable.
Many suggest that we should add some kind of turtle breed/komodo dragon/kangaroo, or anything else that you wouldn't even think would be rideable, rather than a very appreciated animal like the horse.
Or... that's one of the complaints. And I love horses. No offense intended to anyone this description fits to.
The people crying about horses are mad that Minecraft is evolving and expanding. I think they're also mad that the things they personally wanna see haven't been added.
I was partially against it at first. I figured they were just copying popular mods, and that it wouldn't even be very good.
But then I heard that they were working with Dr. zhark, and I saw the snapshots and they kinda grew on me.
Riding pigs had more of a comical value than true function in the first place, anyway.
So, I guess the lesson here is to get a better SSD and CPU.
Yeah, because everyone can afford these things on a whim just for Minecraft horses.
I, personally, don't like the horses. I just don't feel that they fit into the feel of Minecraft. Also, I don't understand why Mojang would go through the trouble of making pigs viable mounts then add horses.
That being said, I wholeheartedly understand why people like them, and I'm not gonna complain about it.
"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence." C. S. Lewis
My main gripe about the horses is how they were implemented.
Lets go through the processes of a minecraftian experience of obtaining a horse and listing the pro's and con's in the current snapshot, shall we?
1: Finding a horse. Neutral.
Since they are more likely found in fields, it would make it a good idea to get some of them, breed them, trade them with other players in multiplayer. The addition of a lead makes it possible. Of course, if one doesn't like horses to begin with, they can stick with their saddled pigs any day.
2: Horse breeding. Pro + con.
Seeing as though there are many breeds, this might be an awesome thing to have, though sad that they (and cats) are the only animals that have multiple breeds. But my main gripe is that you can feed them enough food in one sitting and YOU CAN RIDE ON THEM AND START BREAKING THEIR SPIRIT THE DAY THEY ARE BORN.
3: Breaking a horse. Pro/con.
I like the fact that in the act of breaking the horse, the horse would buck you off. Feeding him/her/it and getting on repeatedly to tame them is a good thing. But this can be a bad thing too. If a horse is born a second ago, it can be fed to full growth and then broken. Unlike the other animals that have a short growth period of time, the foal or coalt is given almost no time to enjoy its parents company and put to work as a steed.
4: Riding. A very big con!
Now, if you have or haven't placed a saddle onto your new steed you notice that, unlike any other mechanics in the game, you press left shift to get off a horse. Now, this confuses me. It would otherwise mean that the developers are trying a different mechanic in relation with simply right clicking to get in/out of boats/carts/etc. So it made me think, does it mean that they will update Minecraft in a way so in order to get out of minecarts, boats, saddled pigs and saddled horses/mules/donkeys you have to press left shift? In my opinion, that's pretty awesome. Still however, I'm talking about the snapshot that introduced the horses, and the finalized product can be VERY different. Since that using left shift is exclusively used for horses, it might make sense why people are hating them.
The main reason I do not like(I do not hate on them, just not that much of a fan of the idea), is because I do not want Minecraft to become more realistic. A lot of people want that in Minecraft, more realism. I think Minecraft has always been a game against hyper-realism. Adding heaps of animals to the game would ruin this affect. I do not mind horses(Mainly because it's just one animal) but if Mojang created this new hyper mob update with heaps of animals(Birds, Foxes, etc, other stuff in mods like Mo'Creatures.) I would be very against it. I like the idea of minecraft having new mobs added bit by bit. But if Mojang added heaps of new and realistic animals to minecraft I would be a bit dissapointed. If you want realism or heaps of animals go download Mo'Creatures or something.

I do know you can not copy and paste mods. I've seen my brothers code mods. But you can look at code and just base yours off of the original. Jeez, "Copy and Pasted with Sprinkles on Top" was just a title I gave them.

Please explain to me why everyone hates horses.
I dont think like them, I LOVE THEMMM :)))
In other word, they hate fads.
don't kill me for this :s
Praise be to Spode.

It is my hope that nobody would upgrade their computer just to play Minecraft better.
Suppose the tone of that post wasn't very clear.
Hahaha...no.
