Ok first up this is not a place to discuss redpower`s developer or update regime etc, we know it may be a few months away or never so lets just find some alternatives amoungst us. No offense is ment to eloraam or any of her fans.

As we find them ill update the original post.

Frames:
No known alternatives

Pneumatic pipes:
buildcraft pipes (not a full replacement i know)
applied energetics (rather good but still not a full replacement and a bit more pricey)
infinitubes(very complicated looking but also very powerful)

Wires
minefactory reloaded (rednet cables, pretty basic but its new addition)

Logic circuits (ie timers etc)
computercraft(no where near as easy to use for most and prone to the odd error)

project tables
project bench mod (to be honest..its spot on replacement)

Volcanos, marble, gems
no know replacements

can anyone think of any other alternatives? have i missed a redpower feature out that needs an alternative?

There are some new things in MFR for logic circuits. Also combining it with immibis microblocks -> red alloy cable

Additionally there are 2 new mods in development for Microblocks (including a microblock api) and redalloy wiring+tubes wich is based on RP2.

It really sounds promising, though there's no release yet as far as I can tell. But I'm really awaiting these ones, and I hope they'll add logic gates, too.

Reasons why I still would like to have RP2 , because I can't find good alternatives :

1. Red alloy wires and multicables. Can cover them up within one block. RP2 also brings a lot of additional logic (timers, counters etc) which I use a lot.
2. Frames. They are not mandatory to me, but are still very fun to play with.
3. Sickle :)

I also prefer tubes in most cases over buildcraft pipes. Applied Energetics as alternative is too much endgame for me. I rarely create huge sorting facilities anymore. Especially now we changed our server to a more adventure/exploration style mod compilation. WIthout IC2 and Greg's we don't need crazy amounts of resources or power anymore.

Makes me sad there's no alternatives for marble/volcanos. Main reason I still run RP2 is for the volcano generation lol

Dartcraft (http://www.minecraft...raft-beta-0111/) adds the Force Mitts, which seem to be a suitable replacement for the sickle. Didn't test it yet, though, just seen direwolf20's mod spotlight

I just watched the spotlight too and this looks like a fun mod, thanks!

I'm going to add it to our server regardless if we find alternatives for RP2 :)

Possibly Ugocraft for the frames?

Someone on Something Awful is working on a mod for basalt and marble so there's that.

Also while the tall volcanoes RP added were sorta cool they didn't really add anything and the shield ones were just STUPID.
Didn't Eloraam say at one point volcanoes were no where near finished despite in no way making them optional like an unfinished and sorta ugly thing should be?

Logic:
http://www.powercraf...c.php?f=3&t=100
There's a bunch of modules for power crafting, but I'm specifically looking at the Logic one.

There's also an open source thing called "Red Logic", but it looks like that died before it even really started:

Now for logic MFR works well.

Ugocraft isn't good enough, and has very low compatibility issues. I would suggest the zeppelin mod, but it is now dead and has a slim chance of coming back.

pixlepix's complexmachines (http://universalelec...omplex-machines) has airships, somewhat like frames... the developer said it would have a blacklist for tile entities (so mining well will reset after the airship moves)

Yeah, I can't figure out how to get that to work, and there's no documentation I could find on it that helped either.

That sounds pretty cool, I'll have to look into that.

I use  NumiRP as a replacement for RP2s marble and basalt. Setting the IDs to the same as RP2 used even made all buildings made of basalt and marble remain unharmed.

It also adds the sickle and the other weapons/tools made of gems.

Why does no one ever remember the block breaker and deployer? Can a vanilla block do that now?

right you are.
Buildcraft pipes are absolutely no alternative.
What is so great about Redpower is that it all works together so cleanly. You can't just replace this. So I'm still waiting for an update to 1.5 or 1.6...

Seems discontinued. Repository hasn't been touched since 27th April.
Sounded good but does not look like an alternative anymore.

Right there. What happens without the blockbreaker and deployer?

Looks like no more frame-based mining machines and lots of other cool stuff you could do with it.
And BTW: A Buildcraft quarry is no alternative to a self-propelling tunneldrill. Posted Image

Looking good. But still, for me it isn't that useful, because I want/need the machines.

Still a good Mod.
