LiteLoader Patcher is the tool for quickly installing LiteLoader on your Macintosh. This is not for Windows or Linux, only Macintosh.
Whether you are having difficulty installing LiteLoader properly, or just want to be able to install it without the hassle, this is the solution.
It automatically moves all of the necessary files into the right places to avoid common problems caused by the Mac Archiver, such as the deletion of files (this could cause black screens or the removal of sound from Minecraft).
Requirements:
All it requires is a fresh minecraft.jar file of the appropriate version.
Installation and Execution:
Simply download and run it (You will need to right click the file and select "Open" on Mountain Lion), follow the instructions, and once the actual process starts, don't mess with anything until the finished popup appears! It should take around 30 seconds to patch your game. Then, once it has run, you may delete LiteLoader Patcher, as it only needs to run once.
Due to the way Minecraft updates, this program will need to be updated and re-run for each update to Minecraft. I will update this when new versions of Minecraft are released.
1.0.1: Instead of requiring a pre-download of LiteLoader, it now downloads the .zip by itself.
Help me, my Minecraft stopped working!:
In the extremely odd (and hopefully nonexistent) case that this causes Minecraft to become unplayable, simply delete the "bin" folder (Which can be found by running the command "open Library/"Application Support"/minecraft" in Terminal), and then force update Minecraft. You may now retry to install mods or just play vanilla.
If LiteLoader Patcher throws an error message midway through patching your file, follow the above steps for resetting Minecraft, as well as deleting the files "liteloaderopen" and "liteloaderopen.zip" on the Desktop, then retry this application with all other applications closed. It relies on fairly precise timing, which means it does not work well with slower computers (I plan on a complete overhaul to change this soon).

Hi, for some reason, whenever I install this I cant move items in my inventory. Ive tried reinstalling my whole Minecraft, and I run it before I install this again, and it works, then when I install it again, I cant move items around at all, the only way I can get an item in my inventory is using the /i command. Please help!
I tried to run LiteLoader, but when it is about 3/4 done it says "Running Workflow" Is this my fault and I'm doing something wrong is is there something wrong with the patcher. I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and minecraft 1.5.1 Any help would be appreciated. Please help!

This shouldn't be the result of my program. It simply moves a few files around so you don't have to.

Is this "Running Workflow" an error message? The program itself is created as a workflow. If you are trying to do other things while the Patcher is working (such as opening Minecraft), I advise that you reinstall Minecraft and try again. Even though the program might not appear to be running, it actually is and will notify you when it finishes.
"move Finder Items" is the error i am facing. is there a way i can fix this somehow?
thanks, awe
I'm assuming the error is either caused by the "Move Finder Items" action not finding the items or not finding the destination it moves them too. This means that it is likely caused by a folder being misnamed/misplaced.
Here are a few guesses at solutions to this error:
First of all, go to System Preferences and choose "Spotlight". Make sure that everything is checked. This allows the program to search for the correct file types.
Make sure that you have a folder named "Downloads" and one named "Desktop" under your user folder. This would only affect the program if you have changed their names.
Go to Terminal and type
open Library/"Application Support"
Make sure that there is a folder named "minecraft" in the Finder window that appears. If it isn't, your Minecraft is installed in the wrong place.
If none of these solve the problem, I honestly have no clue what could be causing the error, but I still may be able to help you install LiteLoader if these don't work. Please inform me if this fixes your problem.

When you download this, your computer by default will not want to run this for security reasons (a new feature called "Gatekeeper"). To circumvent this, you can do one of two things:
1. Right click the program, choose open, and then agree to run the program on the windows that pop up.
2. Open the Automator program (which is installed on every Mac), and then press the "Open an Existing Document"
Choose the Liteloader Patcher file (which should be located in Downloads or wherever you dragged it), and then press the run arrow in the top right. Then follow Liteloader Patcher's instructions (found in the program).

Thaaankkk youuuu soooo muuuchhh! I works! Thx for the help
I first encountered the "Move Finder items," but realized that it was because I still had Minecraft opened. I quit running it, deleted my bin folder, forced the download, and tried again. Now however, I'm encountering "The action "Rename Finder Items" encountered an error."
I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.3, and have looked over everything else in this thread, and still have the error popping up.

There are only two actions in the workflow that actually rename Finder items, so it must be stemming from one of those. The first renames "minecraft.jar" to "minecraft.jar.zip"
This would fail if your minecraft.jar was installed in any other place other than the Application Support folder (a normal installation). This will fail if mods are already installed as this is designed to install on a fresh, vanilla installation of Minecraft.
You can check this by typing the code block in the OP into Terminal. It should take you to your minecraft installation. If minecraft is not installed or the minecraft.jar file is already unarchived or misnamed, then you should reinstall minecraft completely.
The second action that renames a file changes the name of the liteloader.zip file it downloads. The only reason that I can think of that would make this fail is if there is already a folder on the Desktop named "liteloaderopen" or "liteloaderopen.zip"
If those are on your Desktop, delete them manually. The patcher deletes them at the end, but if it fails, it might leave them behind.

That did it! There were various "liteloaderopen" and "liteloaderopen.zip" folders scattered on my desktop and in my downloads folder. Installation did not fail after deleting all folders.

Done. Let me know how it works for you.
Good, that's how it is supposed to work (it is in the instructions to get a vanilla minecraft installation, after all). Glad it could help you
