Hey there, I have been having some problems with the error described in the title, here is the error report:

Bad video card drivers!
  -----------------------

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Here is the DxDiag thing:
Spoiler:
As stated in the title, I have an "ATI Radeon 3000" and use windows 8. I have watched and read so many tutorials on how to fix it, and had no success, so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could explain to me how to fix this! Also I am very bad with computers and computer vocabulary so if someone could explain in very simple terms that would be much appreciated!
Many thanks.

Card name: ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
Drivers that have Microsoft's name in them usually don't have Open GL support (this is your problem).

Try these drivers: http://www2.ati.com/...legacy_win8.exe

Hi thank you, I installed that but now my whole screen has shifted to the left. I cannot see what would be at the left of the screen and there is a black strip on the right. I haven't been able to see if Minecraft works yet as a result.

Try right clicking on your desktop (does that still work in Win 8?) to bring up the graphics properties.  and / or launch Catalyst Control Center some other way.

In the version of CCC that I have, the screen positioning settings are under "My VGA Displays" -> Image Adjustments.

Turtlee: Post your DxDiag.
I used to be a Support Guru, but then ran out of time. I have more time now, but I'll only make the occasional helpful post.
