Maybe a block or 2 that combines like gold or lapiz with the stuff so you have lapiz engraved or gold engraved quartz blocks.
I made some quick textures to give an idea, I'm not too sure about it but its just a thought.

However, a few precisions could be added:
Walls:
If you look at the behavior of Fences & Nether Fences, they don't connect, so no fence types would ever connect together.
But if you look at the behavior of Stone Walls and Moss Stone Walls, they do connect, so do you think all types of walls should connect, or is this just a special case of "those 2 walls types connect because they both share a cobblestone pattern, but completely different texture walls would not connect".
Table :
This should actually exist for all blocks which can be made into slabs, not just for Quartz.
Holder / Big Pot :
This should actually exist for all blocks which can be made into slabs, not just for Quartz.
To avoid confusion with the boat recipe, the big pot recipe should be 7 blocks with the Cauldron recipe pattern.
Putting any of the "filled" big pots in the crafting table would give the "empty" big pot, and only the "empty" big pot should be possible to be used in the crafting recipes for the "filled" big pots.
I also like the "engraved" blocks ideas, too.

I like the idea, I guess. Not sure about the pots, they sound cool, but... dunno, there's just something about them I don't like that I can't put my finger pixely square hand on.
Instead of tables, why not quartz walls and quartz pressure plates?
The pressure plates could activate only if a player stood on them. Useful to stop mobs wandering into your house!
