I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-1GP Laptop and Toshiba Tempro said I need (well, should) update my BIOS to the latest Firmware.
I downloaded and ran the .exe to update it, and I get this error message:

I'll keep this quick and simple.

You should NEVER need to upgrade a prebuilt or laptop's BIOS.

Probably not.
In general you are only going to update your BIOS (even in custom built computers) only when there is a clear problem that the update fixes. Otherwise it is best not to mess with it.

I used to follow the "I need to keep everything as up to date as possible!" idea.
Three bricked CD-RW drives later I kind of decided to just go with the "it works, and I want to keep it that way" idea.
