the I thought there should be more villagers and here is some of my ideas
  • Solider Villager
The solider villager would be just like a normal villager except he/she would be armed and would retaliate. The solider villager would trade, armor, swords, bows, arrows, and so on. The solider villager would have a stone sword sword and chain helmet. Has a simple cobblestone house with a chest of mob drops. Goes out at night and kills all aggressive mobs. Has same health level as normal villagers.
  • Miner Villager
similar to the solider villager but had a iron pickax and traded, coal, iron ingots, emeralds, gold ingots, diamonds, flint, and pickaxes. No armor. Cobblestone house with a chest of the same as what he/she trades. In his/her house is a door that leads to a mine shaft with mine carts. At night the miner villager goes to the mine shaft. *Don't actively mine.
  • Merchant Villager
Doesn't trade sells at his/her house/store and uses a currency of , emeralds, diamonds, gold ingots, iron ingots, coal, seeds, meat, bread, and apples. Each item has a different value and a mixture may be used to pay.

Here is the original

a stone sword sword and chain helmet
a iron sword and complete iron armor

Has same health level as normal villagers

Here is a idea from kilyle that i think is would be a great add to minecraft

ETA: Actually, "Timid Miner" might work.  He mines, say, 1-4 blocks per day.  Any time he finds an ore block, he mines it (no more than 1 per day) and refreshes his store of offers.  Never mines deeper than a certain depth (so he doesn't go finding diamonds), and doesn't mine closer than X blocks (32?) to any village door, which should keep him from undermining your foundations.

Good idea, but makes it a little more RPGish, which is the wrong direction for minecraft in my opinion.

I'm fine with villagers not attacking things, that's for the iron golems.  I also don't want them mining up all my iron.

Both of these have been suggested before.
No support.

Don't say someone "sucks", it doesn't really help your suggestion gain support.

I like the idea of new villagers, although the merchant has been suggested before.

Maybe that part should be underlined, and italicized,  because I didn't see it when I first read the thread. That you for pointing that out though.

You guys suck
They're just telling you what they think of your suggestion, and Pencilshavings5 actually told you some stuff that had a point. If you saw "Please read THIS before making a suggestion," it showed you how becoming aggressive after 3 posts was bad, so if you didn't read it, please do.

Anyways, partial support for the soldier villager. Like Pencilshavings5 said, the iron golem already attacks hostile mobs, but the soldier could attack but cause a lot less damage. And they could have a rare spawn. That's what could make them better.

I have more support for the miner villager, but how would they mine? Would a pickaxe in their hand just start to mine stuff? If so, than that would be really hard for Mojang to develop, at least for the visual I'm thinking of.

The merchant villager has already been suggested before, but I like your idea as well. It's probably my favourite villager that you suggested.

Nope nope nope.

No fighting villagers. This is what Iron Golems are for. The miner doesn't exactly fit too well with all the other silent cross-armed "monks". The merchant is a bit strange, because to some extent, all villagers are merchants.

Hey, new guy with the PewDiePie-related username. You might wanna hold back on the sarcasm and animated head shaking gifs and learn to take the criticism instead of trying to be macho and mock it. That'll only cause people to dig into you.

If you're gonna lash out when people don't like your ideas, don't make posts.

This is exacly  what i also think! i would just love to add more villagerstuff to minercaft.
Here is some more ideas:

Major/king: the leader of the village, has a golden helmet, two iron golems that follows him. he has the biggest house with moch more stuff then the other villagers have. he also wears a medal, that you can trade for 100 emeralds.  if you get it, you will become the leader of the village.

Builder: You can see the builder building houses and expand the village. you can trade building materials with a builder.

Wizards: Similar to wiches, the wizard can make potions and all that stuff, but he is friendly. You can trade potions and ingredients with him.

Schools: This would be a big building with many children-villagers in. They are sitting in the classroom and watching the teacher.

Hair: it would be cool if  it was added hair to the villagers, males short hair, females long hair.

And, also that villager could give you quests, what they actually was added to minecraft for.

Some people say fighting mobs is for iron golems.

Well, villages are not very common, and I've never seen one big enough to spawn an iron golem. So the first night, all but one or two of the villagers are dead, because I can't run around and protect all of them.  Which is pretty annoying, and takes the fun right out of villages when there's no one there.  So I support soldier, but give him chain armor, because you can only get it through testificuts and it'd make sense for them to wear it. Not so sure about the others, however.

I'm pretty sure I saw a mod with Mining villagers before on youtube, but Villagers that build stuff for you and mining ones are pretty sweet. Also the fighting ones are pretty cool. I'd like to see this happen.

This can make it RPG like but it would be a good add to minecraft, but to many quests can make it like what LesserLoops said.

Dude that is kind of extreme. maybe just he trades, diamonds, gold, emeralds, he has a big house and iron golems have attraction to him and all attack anything that attacks him even when there are other threatened villagers.

no support overal, perhaps soldier (please correct the typo, it is a really confusing one). but is should not fight automaticly, more like a hireling mechanism where you can enlist him by giving him emeralds and a weapon, but no village defense aside for the golem. well, perhaps, if you hit them they will hit you back once.

now, let me critize this guy who thought he could left a note

Builder: You can see the builder building houses and expand the village. you can trade building materials with a builder. not bad, but might generate some problems

Wizards: Similar to wiches, the wizard can make potions and all that stuff, but he is friendly. You can trade potions and ingredients with him. or just increase the function of a priest

Schools: This would be a big building with many children-villagers in. They are sitting in the classroom and watching the teacher. and what would be the point of them

Hair: it would be cool if  it was added hair to the villagers, males short hair, females long hair. both steve and the villagers are genderless, and are meant to be such.

And, also that villager could give you quests, what they actually was added to minecraft for. NONONONONONONO. they were most definitly not added for that reason, they where added for trading . minecraft is not an RPG. be banished from these reaches, evil poster, for thou shalt not plague us with such suggestion, such foul words trying to pull minecraft further away from its core. i shalt no allow thy to do so, i swear it, for such is my duty as a minecrafter

well, i gotta admit, the last part was a little melodramatic, but i am serious, minecraft is no rpg, and will never be one. i despise such suggestions to the core. if i wanna play an rpg, i did just go to Skyrim.

Villagers, along with every other mob in the game, are canonically genderless.

(Doesn't stop me from thinking of farmers as having wives.)

Perhaps the miner's inability to affect the landscape could be accomplished by him being a "Wounded Miner" or "Crippled Miner" in some fashion?  Or "Claustrophobic Miner" or "Arachnophobic Miner"?  He could explain how he was fine mining until he happened across a cave with a spider in it, and now he's too scared to go back.  Anyway, some sort of explanation for why he gave up his occupation.

I have kind of got to agree with you. I mean if a villager can tell you to go kill a boss then he will give you emeralds or something is fine but making it have like go to there and do this and that would be quite bad

Maybe the door would lead to a abandoned mine-shaft that has to little torches and so it has to many zombies and other mobs to go into. I also like the timid miner idea. Actually never mind about the to dark idea. Full support on the timid miner. It would be a great add

Hi
I'm impressed. You came back and are now approaching this differently by starting to reason and "barter" a little instead of jumping to the "oh wow very supportive" or "You guys suck" position. That isn't sarcasm; I meant that in a good way.

Quote

Ehh, nah. The RPG/Quest stuff isn't for Minecraft. The game is meant for the player to make and take their own path, and not have these predetermined missions given by others. Having other miner NPC's in the game put a dent on that "lone ranger player" we've had for so long. If NPC's being miners and giving quests was a good idea, we'd have it by now.
