Sickle, Hay Bale, Hay Bundle, Hay Block, Hay Button, Hay Slabs, Hay Trap Doors, Hay Stairs, Hay Pressure Plates, Hay Door, and Hay Pitfall Traps; Why aren't these items yet in the game?
Personally, I don't know if anyone has really thought about hay in Minecraft ,but it would definitely serve many needed purposes! A friend and I have come up with a list of things hay could be used for and how it would be implemented into the game.
Sickle* = Either Wood Planks, Cobblestone, Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, or Diamond.
Used for collecting Tall Grasses as an item.
After the player has cut then picked up the Tall Grass one would need to put 4 Tall Grass in a Furnace to make 1 Hay Bale. The 3 types of tall grasses are essentially the base items used for making Hay objects.
Tall Grass would be a stackable object!
This is how you would craft all the items mentioned above. These items would be arranged in the crafting table as would the wooden versions of these objects. For example: 1 Hay Bundle in the center of the crafting table would make 1 Hay Button.
1 Hay Bale ---> 4 Hay Bundles
4 Hay Bundles ---> 1 Hay Block
1 Hay Bundle ---> 1 Hay Button (Act like wooden pressure plates)
3 Hay Bundles ---> 6 Hay Slabs
6 Hay Bundles --> 2 Hay Trap Doors
6 Hay Bundles --->4 Hay Stairs
2 Hay Bundles ---> 2 Hay Pressure Plates
6 Hay Bundles ---> 1 Hay Door
Hay Pitfall Trap
Consists of 1 Hay Trap Door and 4 Hay Bundles
A Pitfall Trap would be affected by gravity only when stepped on. When placed it would appear flush to the ground. When a Pitfall Trap is stepped on the Pitfall Trap would break and fall onto the ground as a Pitfall Trap Object. Now one could use this to activate Wooden/Hay Pressure Plates below or simple cover up a pit of death. Eg. Lava, Water hole, or Long Drop. The object would burn in Lava within 5 seconds but if quickly collected within 5 seconds it would go into the inventory. DO NOT attract animals.
HAY BALES: Used to craft Hay Bundles. They can be placed on the ground as an object themselves and can attract animals. The more Hay Bales one places the greater the animal attraction. Animals will stay in the general area of the Hay Bale until it is eaten by the animals. Animals will only eat hay bales when damaged. Hay Bales will help heal animals and will disappear once the animals eat the hay bale 5 times.
Hay Bundles: Cannot be placed on the ground as a block, so essentially can only be used for crafting.
Hay Blocks, Hay Slabs, Hay Stairs,: Used for building, DO NOT attract animals.
Hay Pressure Plates, Hay Buttons: Act like a wooden button and DO NOT attract animals.
Hay Trap Doors, Hay Doors: Act as regular doors and trap doors. The only exception is they appear flusher to the ground/wall. Also Hay Trap Doors are used for Hay Pitfall Traps (See Above)

Everyone has mentioned this before and I even saw a thread about it but here goes it. HORSES! Hay being added in would not be complete unless there were horses. I mean look at the post title and you'll see what I mean. Err well I guess Minecraft needs the Hay but Minecraft also needs the Horses.
You could just put 4 wheat in a 2x2 square and get a haybale. Also the sickle could be made like this:
Material= wooden planks, stone, iron, gold, diamond
(material)(material)(material)
(stick) (none) (none)
(stick) (none) (none)
The sickle could now be used for grass like the shears or not even have the sickle.
too much hay... sorry, i dont need 5 items to make a door? made out of hay? ya... idk what to say about that hay ( that rhymed!). anyway (lol) nice job? but i would not use half the items sorry.
like some of it but hay doors not realy reasonbull but hay bales i like now i dont have to make them follow me just place it.
i think tho you should just use weat in to a 2x2 squre to make a bale. In trems basic consept B+ the actule idea i would give a D+..

To be perfectly honest... Pigs are terrible... I prefer running.
I like the idea for hay, but its already been suggested :/
although I'm unsure if there even should be types of sickles or just one sickle kinda like shears.
As for horses I would say controlling them with a saddle unlike pigs would be great!

Have you actually ever used a carrot on a stick? It's wonderful.
