Posted ImageTL;DRI got involved in texture work very early on in my Minecraft career. I started my first pack only about two or three months after hearing about the game. Things were a lot simpler in those days, back around the first full release. As many of you know, my first attempt at a texture pack was absoulute garbage. A horrible bucket fill, with terrible colors and disgusting shading. I had never done anything artistic outside of art class in elementary school; never picked up a pencil or a brush. I had no artistic experience whatsoever. I, in my foolishness and naiveté, posted the pack I had made here to the forums. The feedback I recieved, while harsh, was unanimous: go back, learn what you're doing, and try again, and who knows, you may end up being somebody. Instead of storming off in a huff, never to return to the scene again, I decided to take the advice of the experienced artists I had talked to, and start again. After many months, and many heartbraking computer crahses, I created the first texture for Illustrious (then called Fancy Shmancy). I posted the first few textures I made, only two of which now remain in the pack, and recieved some positive feedback. I continued to create new textures, astounded at the response I was getting. I had obviously improved. As I made more and more art, I gained more and more technical knowlege, to the point where I am now one of the top posters in the Resource Pack Help forum. I continued adding textures, creating the virtual world that I wanted, all the while gaining new skills and meeting new people (after a fashion). The purpose of this pack is simple: textures that are beatiful to look at. All my textures are made with the utmost care, perfected and refined until the convey my image of what I think the game should look like.Posted Image

Posted ImageIMPORTANT: While HD textures and animations have been supported since 13w02a, Optifine/MCPatcher are still required to get the full effect. The pack will still work without Optifine/MCPatcher, but some features (connected textures, custom colors, etc.) will not work.

Also, you won't be able to see at night if you don't use MCPatcher.

I have to say, this is pretty good. I feel the stone should be less saturated, but it is quite interesting. The texture is quite nice,

That sidesnow is quite extraordinaire, though.

Not entirely a fan of the planks, though. The edges are too rough for me.

I know. I made them in an editor I wasn't used to, and they turned out a little funny. Plus, I tried to use CTM to randomize the knots in the wood, but I had to remove some from the original texture and add them in other places, so now there are spots where you can see that there was a knot, but it was erased. They'll definitely need some touching up.

There is a tileing error with your side grass it looks like the ends don't match up, it's more clear on the snow.

Yes, I noticed that after I had posted. Will fix ASAP.

Added cobblestone and moss stone.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Yes, the cobble does not match the stone. I may end up making the stone into the sandstone after all.

Dude, this is pretty nice!

I'd also recommend using the stone as sandstone, especially considering the cobblestone design.

Also, I feel the planks are lacking in detail. They just look a little flat.

Not sure what to suggest, I can't see them so well.

Anyway, keep it up, bro, I know I'll be watching for updates
:3

EDIT: Btw, the moss it a little overdone, making the tiling of cobble+moss-cobble far too obvious. Try removing the moss from some of the stones

I see what you mean. I was thinking about doing something fancy with CTM to make that seem less obvious. We'll see how that goes.

Finally, I've gotten some stuff done. Between being ill and discovering Thaumcraft, I thought I'd never get back to it. I have added all of the log sides (tops still WIP), and started with the mossy cobble CTM like I said I would. That part could take a while to get working, though. Also, put the working download link in the OP.

Spoiler: Screenshots

So, advice, comments, criticisms, all are appreciated. Second semester starts tomorrow, so updates will come a little slower, but I shouldn't disappear altogether.

I love your pack, and I love your attitude. I've been lurking these forums for a while, and I've rarely seen this much of an improvement. Amazing work, my friend!

I've finally got the CTM for the fences working (more or less), which is something I've wanted to d for a long time!
Spoiler:
The CTM is working, but the textures still need some minor adjustments.

I took all you guys' thoughts into consideration, and finally went for it and redid the planks. I'm not too sure how well they turned out, so I could really use some CC.
Spoiler: Sceenshots

Also, updated the download, here and in the OP.

So, tell me what you think! I'm having a lot of fun on this one, learning new techniques and stuff (did some stuff with layer masks, which was SUPER fun). I want to make this pack the best it can be!

EDIT: 6 WHOLE DOWNLOADS OH MAI GAWD SO EXCITED

Thanks!

Yes, I've decided, I'll definitely have to keep working on those planks. I want them to fit with the fences, but at the moment, they are too smooth and very low saturation. It needs work.

Also, redesigned stone and iron bars are on the way!

In my opinion I belive the wood planks look a bit soft and round on the edges, Unless thats what you were going for. Other wise keep up the good work, I'm looking foward to the mossy cobblestone update.

Also, about the cobblestone. Until I can get CTM for my Minecraft working in the new format (I switched to the new  snapshots, and everything got messed up), I will not be releasing a version in the new texture format. It's coming along, though!

T
hanks!Okay, so I've been working on getting the stone where I like it, and I think I've got it. That should be ready in a few days. Also, redstone and nether blocks are coming along quite quickly, so there's something to look forward to!
Spoiler: Sneak peek
Also, next download will have 1.5 compatibility, once I get the darn CTM working. Having some SERIOUS issues with MCPatcher right now.

Hooray! An update! Finally got some stuff done. This has been a very productive week. I've added most redstone blocks, including doors and lamps. Stone has been redone to look more like stone, and the old stone has been changed to sandstone. All ores are completed (excluding quartz), and some are randomized! Planks are looking sexy, but they have sadly lost their randomization. That may not be fixed, it depends on whether I can think of anything to do. Also, updated to 1.5 format! All CTM and animations are working in both versions. The OP has been overhauled, and made to look more pretty. Some screenshots are missing, and so are some other images, but they will be up ASAP. Thanks to everyone who has commented so far, and everyone who has downloaded (all 9 of you). Hoping to get a lot more done in the coming weeks!
